Calling All Tweeters: Remote Working Tip Twiveaway
Many of you already know that we love Twitter and love finding and retweeting great tips and stories. But now, we think it’s time for us to take a break from hearing ourselves talk (oops, did I say that out loud?).
We want to hear what YOU have to share!
- Are you on Twitter?
- Do you have a great tip for remote working or managing remote workteams?
- Can you annotate it in 120 characters or less?
If you answered YES to all of those questions, enter our Twiveaway for a chance to win a $100 Amazon Gift Certificate!
All qualified tweets will receive an entry into our contest. We will hand-pick the top 10 tweets and post them on our blog. A winner will then be randomly drawn from the top 10.
What makes a qualifying tweet, you ask?
It’s simple, just follow these steps:
- Follow @oDesk on Twitter
- Send an @ reply to @oDesk with your tip
- End your tweet with this hashtag: #oTip
- Make sure your entire tweet (including @oDesk and #oTip) is less than 140 characters
That’s it!
Here’s an example of a qualifying tweet (we sent a similar tweet to @mashable last month):
@odesk When emailing a buyer, ALWAYS spellcheck words like “shift” before hitting send…one letter makes a BIG difference! #oTip
Be insightful. Get creative. Add a dash of humor. Show us what you’ve got!
Deadline for submission is Thursday, July 2nd.

cool idea
I have not been able to secure work through ODesk, although I have been working on it. My advice on freelance is hit up the people in your social networks. As a p/t writer, I contact people such as Pete Cashmore, magazine companies, Random House, etc. to see is I can submit work. It has to something that is relevant for them, but most could whip something out quickly. The other luck I have had is sending people to my blog(s). So far, I have had 3 jobs pay this way. Finally, never underestimate the least likely source: A woman that I had done business with a couple of times (not big money) contacted me with a name and phone number. I ran a freelance job for 48 hours that paid $95/hour. It was strategy and research, but the work is out there….I just need to get the bidding system down and learn how to put my work up somewhere…do we have “portfolios?”
