The rest of the oDesk Skill

The rest of the oDesk Skill tests require a waiting period. The oDesk Readiness Test can be retaken immediately, and as many times as necessary.

but he has failed the readiness test and as I understood from him that
it requires a retake after one month . If what he is saying is true , I can't find it logic that this
specific test needs whole one month waiting period just to retake . May

I don't work for oDesk but my understanding is there is no timeframe on the readiness test as there are on others. If a person should fail it they can take it again immediately. Doreen

page stuck on the last question?

On the subject of the Readiness test...

I was able to finish all the questions within the time limit with no problem. At the last question, I ticked my answer and when I clicked on next... the page just stays there. It shows that it's loading --- I can see the bar at the bottom and a busy icon with my cursor --- but that's it. I left it like that for several minutes, then checked my profile to see if it may be updated and it's just my browser that's stuck. My profile shows that I'm now oDesk ready, which means I passed the test.

Just an FYI for anyone who might experience a similar problem. Don't close the page, but check your profile first. If it shows you've passed, then you can probably close the test window. Cheers!

One point of Clarification ...

Please note that the feedback that you receive at the end of the test is a numbered list of questions you got wrong on the test. However, the numbers themselves are NOT correlated to the question number, as they appear on the test. Therefore, chances are, if you had gotten 10 questions incorrect on the test, they will be listed at the end of the test but it does NOT mean you necessarily got questions 1 through 10 wrong on the test.

Hope this helps. In order to completely remove any confusion, we've already asked our test hosting vendor to no longer number the feedback.

Who insists that the first 10 questions do not have a 'right' answer in them I would recommend you look at my profile. I not only got the mysterious first 10 questions right but managed to get all of them right.

Please read our testing

Please read our testing policy - even though this is an open book est, sharing answers is strictly prohibited.

I assure you that the test does work and hundreds of providers have succeeded in passing it already. http://www.odesk.com/tests/647

If you are having difficulty, please go through the test and open each linked article. Take the time to read through them before you retake the test. All the answers are in the linked articles.

Been waiting for this as a buyer.

It's not really surprising when you look at the stats, though, and notice that half the providers failed the test. There were 2 questions I had a hard time understanding, but still, easily passable.

Want to try number 51. I can assure you they do work. I was in the 'test'group and they were fine - and while you do have to do some 'homework' before completing the test successfully, you can't just randomly select numbers to get to 'ready' status.

The icons won't be activated until the test is required (June 4th). You've billed hours in the past 90 days, so you will receive the badge automatically. I recommend you take the test anyway though - everyone can benefit from it.

Update: Everyone can now check their oDesk Readiness just above the profile completedness bar in your provider profile editor (My oDesk -> Profile & Settings -> My Provider Profile)

PS - I used to live in Cobh, Co. Cork, so reading your profile just took me a nice trip down memory lane...

oDesk Readiness Test

As part of our on-going initiative to improve user quality on oDesk, we are introducing the oDesk Readiness Test for providers. The “test” is actually more of a tutorial and it is designed to educate providers new to oDesk on our policies and best practices. Topics include “Getting Hired” and “Working on Assignments”. By passing the oDesk Readiness Test, new providers will be able to hit the ground running and ensure that their first assignment will be a successful one.

Providers who have billed hours on oDesk recently are by definition ready to work and will be granted the “oDesk Ready” designation without having to pass the oDesk Readiness Test. In two weeks, only providers who are oDesk Ready will be able to apply to jobs. Therefore, we highly recommend all providers who are not yet oDesk Ready to take the oDesk Readiness Test before June 4th.

You can check if you're oDesk Ready by going to My oDesk -> Profile & Settings -> My Provider Profile - it's just above the profile completeness bar in My Account Summary.

As always, we welcome your feedback. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the oDesk Readiness Test, please post here!

Yang
oDesk

PS - There's nothing preventing experienced oDesk providers from taking the ORT. We encourage everyone, no matter how many hours you've billed, to take it. You might learn something!
