After reading the whole discution on my thread everyone have greate participation.

But after reading the jpittenger comments i want to answer it.

Actually i have i story after that you will get what i want to impalement on odesk.

I have a bad experience there for i start this thread.

As you said that the provider have right to end the project.

But in my case the buyer only pay me 30% and i am waiting for more pay and saying to buyer that i complet the buyer to pay me remaing payment but buyer pay a duble game with me. After getting the full feature software he finish the job and saying to odesk that the software is not working proprely and has some viruses so I want to refund the mony.

Odesk block me and saying to me that i must refund to him.

I am surprise what is heppning with me odisk is not lisning to me and only saying the buyers words. I told the odesk that i have the chat which the buyer did with me for the project I complet it as he told and has no virus so buyer should give me the remaing 70%.

But unfortuanitly the are not ready to listen me and block my account so i can't apply further more.

The purpose of writing the whole story is that please be aware of such buyers get hourly jobs becouse odesk only care about the buyers and dame care about providers even not ready to listen them.

Yes, it is OK to end an

Yes, it is OK to end an assignment before things really even get started. In fact, this is much better than waiting it out a week or two and having your suspicions that things won't work out confirmed. If you're gut is telling you to end the job, do it sooner rather than later.

I believe leaving feedback is mandatory for the party ending the assignment. I recommend explaining yourself in the comments section.

Closing the project amicably without doing the assignment?

Hi Jacqui,

Thanks for the reply. So is it fine that a provider does not submit the assignment at all (because the buyer seems to be fishy after discussing everything) and still leave a feedback?

You always have the option

You always have the option to end an assignment.

For a fixed price job, any feedback you leave will appear in the buyer's work history weighted by the agreed bid amount - even if he never paid you. And if you haven't been paid for the job, it won't appear in your work/feedback history.

Changing the terms after an assignment starts isn't a violation of oDesk policy - it happens frequently without causing any problems. But be honest in your feedback - if you don't approve of the buyer's behavior, say so in your comment and leave appropriate ratings to warn future job seekers.

The same issue I have raised

The same issue I have raised in the feedback section. Now after reding the first comment, I can only say that, Odesk should allow a day's time after the project is accepted between two parties, and if the buyer seems to be changing the terms etc. of the project in any manner (adding anything, asking the provider to do something which hasn't been mentioned), the provider should be given a chance to cancel the project immediately and report the buyer.

BTW, I am still a newbie here, if I have said anything that's already in practice then let me know.

The difference between hourly work and fixed-price projects

Clearly there are some buyers who should be putting more thought into their job posts. Of those, some are new at posting jobs, some jobs are complex by nature and difficult to spec out entirely up-front, and a small percentage are intentionally trying to mislead providers (which is clearly wrong).

I would say that for most cases, if you're short on time and don't want to help the new buyer with his job specs, then look for veteran oDesk buyers that have had successful hires and good feedbacks from providers. Otherwise, apply and use the interview process or the job message board to solicit clarification from the buyer. Do NOT take on jobs that you do not feel comfortable with.

Finally, for those jobs that are just hard to scope, why not work hourly rather than at a fixed-price? In fact, oDesk was started to address the list of short-comings about fixed-priced projects detailed in this thread. Providers should be compensated for the hours they've put into the project (and oDesk even guarantees payment) even if the scope changes or unexpected issues arise.

Hiring Information ESPECIALLY AS REGARDS RATE OF PAY unclear

Yes, as a writer, I am inclined to agree with the earlier comments, however poorly written. As a writer of English, I am appalled at some of the writing I have seen on this site. However, I am also discouraged by the many unpolished professionals I have encountered herein. I believe there are many improvements to increase the effectiveness of this process and allow for a positive work environment. Reading between the lines is the key to understanding this website and worksite. Interestingly enough, I believe oDesk should be more self-correcting when it comes to language and payscale quoted by Buyers. For example: today's flat-rate of $20 for 200-300 words and the need for 10 (ten) 200 to 300 word stories. Logic would say that this gig pays $20 per story. However, some neophyte buyer who's never bought writing in his life may think he's getting 10 stories for $20. So, the time it takes to clarify this point may not even be time well spent. There's more, but I'm wasting time writing this.

Thanks,

Another Poor Writer (boo hoo)

Odesk process is time consuming

I think you didn't read the thread fully I said that the some buyers are not sour what should write about there job.

When provider ask some extra info or clarification then they make update in job. That will send to the persons that applied to the job. But it is time consuming job why not Odesk open live chat like Google which the person who is going to launch a new job. If the buyers is experience then is didn't need to ask from the help is somebody is not sure about the job then he can ask live from the chat window.

And some buyers hids the diffculty of the job
Buyers can edit their job

Buyers can edit their job posts to update the job description at any time if they need to make it clearer or more detailed. They can also opt to have their buyer profile visible. Buyers can edit the company profile in my oDesk -> Team Admin -> Team/Company Info
