As of now, you can't "move" your team members to different teams. You can use "invite user" to invite by user id, and as soon as the invitee accepts, they're in the new team as well. If you want them to work in the other teams, you have to hire them in the new team, which means posting an opening in the new team.

Needless to say, this is quite clunky -- the good news is that we're about to release some improvements in this area. I will contact you off-line to see if you are interested in participating in a beta program for this.

Splitting Teams

Is there a way to split a team into two teams? I've created a 2nd team, but I don't see a way to move team members to the new team.

To be honest with you - when I apply for new postings because I have so many open assignments I always let a buyer know what my weekly/monthly availability is and if and by how much my rate is negotiable. I do all of this in my cover letter.

This is especially important if the buyer is looking for numerous providers and/or if the 'average' rate of the people who have applied is significantly lower than mine.

I also try to include my time zone although if you take a look at the profile of the provider(s) you're considering you'll see them in the profile!

Add notes

Would be great to have a notes field. (It would even be nice if you could have the provider provide a range of time as part of their app, but that is a bit much. )

I am trying to decide between multiple providers with different time and cost bids..... it's like making a decision on ebay with different bids and shipping costs.

Two way task creation is

Two way task creation is something i can realate to.
Sometimes i get a flurry of emails askig to this this this and this.
and i have my own agenda of doing things for the project.

Perhaps with the 2way tasks, both of us can see where we stand
and if anything is missing, all that need to bedone is to add the task.

Regards
Deepa

in my case

Hi Anand,

In my case the buyers have had me 'long term' assignments (most since March) and they have various clients from month to month - so in my case I might have 1 client that has me working 5 hours on one client, 3 hours on another and 10 on another...if that makes sense!! If needed I can continue to do the monthly reporting - if oDesk provided a way for me to break it out it would just be easier but I can certainly continue to do it! Hope you had a great holiday. Regards, Doreen

Interesting use case

Hi Doreen,
This is an interesting use case. In our current design, the buyer creates tasks for the projects, and you would log time to the tasks. Then the buyer would be able to pull a report that shows your time broken out by task. Our thinking was that the buyer would want to control what the reports look like. We believe that many buyers do tell their providers what tasks to work on, and this would be one way to go about making that process a bit more robust. Sounds like that won't work for your buyer?
We will need to work on a solution here. One work around would be for the buyer to allow you to have hiring manager privileges for their team. Would that work in your case? Alternately, we would need to create the option for the buyer to allow you as a provider to create your own tasks.
Thanks for the feedback!
Anand
The buyer

Is not familiar with the system. oDesk doesn't flag cover letters only the buyers can do that.

It could be that the buyer in fact used the wrong 'flag' from the drop down. It's not as easy as it was to flag as spam but it's still an option.

The buyer who marked my

The buyer who marked my application as "spam" responded by saying she was not responsible for the marking - it was oDEsk's.

oDesk management, PLEASE clarify this...the buyer insisted on never doing it - and it's you who automatically marked it with the word "spam".

I don't think resubmitting my application as per buyer's request was not a reason to be marked as "spam - null".

clarification needed.....!

Spam- recycled cover letter

I just applied for my first job, *wrote* my cover letter on the spot, and in a few hours got rejected on the grounds of being "Spam - recycled cover letter".

I re-applied with a more detailed cover letter (the system allowed this), but a few hours later I'm not applying to that job (it seems that the second application was sent "into the void"

Please, do offer a way to flag this from the provider point of view. Or at least allow to challenge the spam status.

In the meantime, I'll keep at it and hope I can get my first job soon.

Include me as one of the numerous "complainants" of the "spam" remark. Am to was "victimized" by this word. I hate spammers and yet there was this buyer who told me to resubmit my application and the next thing I knew she marked my application as spam. I immediately emailed her for erroneously marking my sincere adherence to her request.

oDesk management---please hear our pleas. I am new and still proving my worthiness. (I don't deserved to be treated as spammer).
