1826 postsBratislava, the capital of Slovakia is a city with around 450,000 inhabitants located on the river Danube. Bratislava is one of the youngest capitals in Europe and few people know that during the time it was called Pressburg or Pozsony.
The cityscape of Bratislava, characterized by medieval towers and 20th-century grandiose buildings, has been going through profound changes due to the construction boom at the beginning of the 21st century.
Bratislava’s most historic monument is St Martin’s Cathedral (Dom sv Martina, Rudnayovo námestie).
One of the most prominent structures in the city is Bratislava Castle, situated on a plateau 85 metres above the Danube.
Bratislava also boasts of the narrowest house in Europe, which is located in Bratislava Old Town.
