How do you prefer to communicate?

I am a very avid fan of Meebo - they provide a reliable service (no downtime - like ever) and it's great to be able to login to 50 different accounts all at once.
I just wish more people knew about Meebo!
I use prettymuch anything the buyer prefers..
AS i use Pidgin(Formerly Gaim) & Skype ..
so I have multiple logged in that,
from AOL.MSN, YIM, to Jabber, Gtak, and even Gadu-Gadu...
voice vs text mode
There were a number of attemts by email to load me with some work from persons who claimed they were from oDesk (not oDesk buyers or oDesk staff, but just "from oDesk").
I asked them to tell me the Id of their oDesk job opening, they replied that they would discuss this over phone in voice.
What's special about communicating over phone? Anybody knows?

Kopete, Pidgin, Skype - I find these more useful than a phone call. I realize buyers like the voice contact but I like im convos for the note taking - I can always look back on my im history to go over things.

I wish Basecamp from 37 signals was a choice. The communication methods are light chat interfaces which lack project management support.
Jabber
If oDesk had a central jabber server, with groups (Buyers/Providers) with conference rooms for each project, I believe it would greatly improve the interactivity not only between buyers and providers, but among project members.

well guys i m using yahoo messenger from years, and found its simply the best..
I use Skype, GTalk and yahoo
on Thu, 2007-12-27 19:27.I use Skype, GTalk and yahoo (via pidgin), all mostly for chats, and I like GTalk most of all, but sometimes I have to use Skype when I need to paste some code - GTalk removes formatting, (leading spaces). When internet connection drops, GTalk and yahoo sometimes lost messages, this is very annoying. Skype always deliver chat messages when connection is restored.

I love AOL IM for me thats the best choice cause i m constantly on aol and on IM so for me its the best also i think the very best is that it should be something that should be decided between the provided and freelancer not that you have to sign up to something when you sign up to odesk. Otherwise Odesk is the best thing that ever happened to me. Thank you to whoever created it.

Yahoo Messenger is best because i am using yahoo messenger and i saw it's very simple like others.
And i think yahoo will be more good in future....
