Help! Survey Design
I have a client that wants to put together a survey to see if there is a market for the service she wants to provide. She's asked me to come up with a ballpark estimate on how long one would take to put together and what rate I would charge.
I have NO IDEA what either of those might be. This would be my first time creating a survey so I have absolutely no frame of reference for time or cost! I was wondering if anyone on oDesk has had experience putting one together or any tips I can keep in mind.
Thanks!
(p.s. I wasn't sure which forum to put this in so if it has to be moved I apologize!)

Hi, Tashia,
I'm not sure whether you're unsure about writing the questions/answers or actually setting them up as a survey (or both), but I can offer some suggestions on the technical part.
I've been using a very cool survey tool lately called SurveyGizmo (that's my affiliate link but you can also just search for it).
I've used it for some questionnaires I make my clients fill out, but also for a market research survey. If you follow that link and take the survey, you'll see some of the cool features, like questions that only show up if other questions are asked (for instance, if the visitor says they wouldn't buy the product, there's no point in asking them how much they'd pay for it).
The pricing is affordable (a great selling point for your client), it's easy to use, and they offer six different regular tele-trainings to teach you how to use it if you learn better by watching examples. I've taken three of them and am loving the tool (obviously--I just spent the last five minutes rambling about it!).
As far as writing the questions, I'm honestly not sure about timing. There's a great list of "best practices for surveys" on the SurveyGizmo site that might help (in conjunction with advice you get from writers here).
Good luck!
