New And Need Help

I have been on Odesk since June. I have not received a job since being here and I am wondering if it is because of my location which is Jamaica. I am not active here and I am asking if there is anyone who can show me the ropes.

I believe your location doesn't really matter as we have providers from very different countries find projects here.
One of the two possible reasons I can think of looking at your profile is that you are not applying to as many job openings as your weekly limit should allow.
The second may be your rate/skills relation. I am not sure if the date listed in your profile is the rate you are applying with, but if it is make sure you give enough grounds in your cover letter for this rate - in other words why the Buyer should prefer you to other providers.
