PayPal is Temporarily Disabled
on Wed, 2008-07-16 17:03. News We are temporarily disabling withdrawals via PayPal.
We recognize how critical this service is to our providers and it is our top priority to restore full functionality. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
We expect PayPal withdrawals to be resumed by July 19 and are working diligently to try to restore service earlier.
No other payment methods are affected
We will keep the community posted with updates. Please refer to our help page to learn about other withdrawal methods that you can use to access your funds. If you are reliant solely on PayPal withdrawals please contact customer support and we may be able to identify an alternate means to deliver your funds to you while PayPal service is disabled.
For those of you who want more information about this outage:
PayPal requires that we pre-fund an oDesk corporate PayPal account from which all PayPal payments to providers are deducted. We make weekly deposits to this account based on our forecast of withdrawals from PayPal. Our forecast does include a buffer to allow for unusually high demand for PayPal withdrawals, but this morning we have seen even more providers selecting this withdrawal method than our buffer allows. As soon as we realized that there was increased demand we initiated a new transfer, which will unfortunately take 3-5 business days to post to our corporate PayPal account.
In the meantime, our technical support team has been instructed to be on call to help any provider who needs assistance in getting paid while our PayPal service is disabled.

PayPal is up again
As of this morning (July 18) our corporate PayPal account is back to normal and providers can once again withdraw earnings from PayPal.
To avoid this issue in the future, we revised our forecasting methodology.
We want to thank everyone for being patient.
