Ending an Assignment before receive payment : How can i do ?

Hi everybody,

I made a mistake . I ended an assignment before the buyer send money. No problem with this buyer. I 'd just made a mistake and not ended the right assignment. Anyone did the same mistake ?

Please advice me on the best practices to figure out this case.

Should i ask the buyer to repost the job and hire me again ?

Of course, i ended the job with 0$ payment , so what is the cost for the buyer in this case ?

Hello Bruno,

Here's what I would've done in this situation.

1. Sending a help ticket to oDesk immediately asking if they can solve this issue (just asking oDesk if they can solve it, a yes/no answer would do here).

2. Informing the buyer about the mistake immediately, giving him the info about the help ticket and requesting him to wait or rehire if the task is something that has to be done today.

Hope this gives an idea about what to do. You are the right person here to make a right decision now.

If this was a fixed price

If this was a fixed price job, the buyer will not be billed after the job ends. If this was an hourly job, the buyer will still be billed for the hours you logged.

I think support can un-end the job if you submit a help ticket - but if they say they can't, the buyer will need to repost and rehire you. Either way, contact the buyer immedately to explain what happened - or he might think you quit and go hire someone else!
