Can anybody help me? I'm a new provider.
Hello everyone!
I'm a new provider and I'm not at all familiar with oDesk Tools.
I've been assigned to my first job. I've contacted my buyer to accept the job. What are the following steps? Should I receive any other email from the buyer with the asignment? To tell you the truth, I can't figure out the procedures to start working and logging hours, and all this oDesk Diary/team and stuff.
I'll be very grateful if you could teach me in a few easy steps what I must do now.
Thank you all!!
Elizabeth

Welcome to oDesk, and congrats on your first assignment. I see from your profile you have 1 current assignment, so you've been officially hired. If you've got questions about the job, the buyer is who you need to talk to. To log hours, simply log into the oDesk Team client. If you don't enter a team ID, it'll pop up a list to choose from. When you're logged in, you're logging time.

Thank you very much, Jacqui!!
I don't know why I find the program so difficult.
So, I should wait for my buyer reply about my assignment, because I still don't know what I have to translate exactly. I guess I'll get more confident when I start using the tools and gain practice. But I wouldn't like to disappoint my buyer
Thank you again for your answer and I'll follow your advice.
Kind regards.

Good luck! The first assignment was nerve-wracking for all of us.

Thank you Jacqui!!!
Last question, where do I download my document/assignment from???
jpittenger
Normally, you get all your assignment details and documents directly from the buyer. Some buyers use the oDesk SVN repository to transfer files (ask your buyer if they use this - it's unlikely for your kind of work). If there's something that was on the original job post that you need, it's still there in your list of inactive candidacies.

Jacqui, you've been very nice. Thanks a lot for your help. Now I have some things clear. So, it seems I have to wait for my buyer to send me the material. I have already contacted them but I have not received anything, so far. That's why I thought maybe I had to download the doc from oDesk.
Thank you very much for your support!!!
Have a beautiful day!!

Hi Jacqui,
Sorry to bother you again. Despite my emaiIs to the buyer, I have not received any more replies nor the document to translate. What am I suppose to do? I don't understand why a buyer would hire somebody to work on a project and then, just... disappear...
Do you have any advice? I will be very grateful if you could give me your opinion.
Thanks a lot.

I clicked on your profile, and I can see that there wasn't any additional info on the job posting. You can attempt to contact the other provider in your team room, to see if they have any additional info.
Have you received any communication from this buyer? Unfortunately, some buyers do disappear. If the buyer has gone more than two weeks without a response, I recommend you report his behavior via a help ticket. Though they are unlikely to be able to help, it's good to have record of the event. And at some point (I would probably wait until 3 weeks), you'll need to end the job. Be sure to leave very honest feedback to let others know the buyer disappeared and that you don't appreciate it.

Thank you Jacqui, you're very kind.
I tried to contact the other members of the team, but... no reply.
I'll follow your advice and report this issue. It's a pity because I really needed the job.
Well, maybe more will come!!
Thank you again for your patience and help.
Have a nice weekend!!
