What are the benefits of having an affiliate compared to be
an independent contractor? Is there a possibility that you can gain more project if you are a member of an affiliate group?

It really depends. Certain Buyers prefer to deal with freelancers only. At the same time, Buyers like security and experience or need a wide range of skills (say for website development, one needs a wed designer, a coder, a content writer and possible a SEO). In this case, they may prefer to deal with a company, where a less experienced provider can get help from their seniors or there is a team of all nedded professionals already used to working together.
Also, in a company, there is usually a sales manager, who applies for jobs and negotiates with Buyers, so from this point of view, it may be bringing you more jobs. At the same time, if the sales person isn't too good at his/her job, you might be better off marketing yourself on your own.
Also as a freelancer you get to choose what jos to apply to, what rate to charge etc.
So to sum up, joining an affiliate doesn't bring you more jobs in itself. It depends on the quality of the affiliate and your own current level.

Thanks Olga, I am new here in Odesk and fortunately have 2 assignment, I thought having an affiliate will give me more project somehow, anyway for now I will try my luck to work as an independent contractor, then I will to look for a good affiliate. thanks for sharing
