Was hired on 23rd, but playing ping pong on emails. can I end the assignment?

I was hired to do transcription on the 23rd.  The job post had 2 links to view (1 audio/1video), but neither have a download link.

I asked the buyer to send me either mp3 formats or links that are downloadable into my trans. software.

3 days later he emailed to see if I'd completed them, although he never sent any audios.  I apologized about the confusion.  Have since sent 2 more emails just to make sure he has received them.  No response.

I sent one today again apologizing, I usually have a 24 hour turnaround, but without the audio files I can't help.  I said if due to our miscommunication,  he has had the work done elsewhere just to let me know and I will end the assignment.

MY QUESTION IS:  Right now I have 16 feedbacks (all 5) and am afraid to end this assignment.  Since I have not actually logged any hours for him, will it even show up in my work history?  I would prefer that it doesn't instead of just saying "feedback not given".

Thanks Tamara

Jobs are weighted in your

Jobs are weighted in your work history by dollars earned. Since you say you haven't logged hours, I'll assume you haven't earned any money. If you haven't been paid for the job, it won't appear in your work history, and won't affect your feedback score.

So feel free to end the job. I believe you will be asked to leave feedback, even though you haven't logged any hours. Please be honest about your opinion of this buyer and leave a descriptive comment - it won't appear on the buyers history (as a zero-dollar hourly job), but it will be officially logged in the system for the buyer and oDesk staff to see.

your opinion please

Thanks Jacqui.  I was wondering, there could be a good reason for not hearing back from him - maybe he's had an emergency or something.  I don't want to leave poor feedback prematurely.  Would you wait to end the assignment to give him time to respond?  I may just be suspicious about his links, they may not have been the ones that put the .exe files on my computer (maybe just circumstantial evidence) but I'm the only provider he even interviewed; it wasn't an open job post - he contacted me directly.  It just seems a bit odd.

What would your instincts tell you to do? (the part about the links was in a separate post I made today)

Have you had any contact

Have you had any contact with the buyer since he hired you? If no, I think you've waited long enough. If yes, I'd say wait at least a full week since the last contact. And if there's anyone else in your team room, try contacting them as well.

But generally speaking, if you've got a bad feeling about the assignment it's better to get out sooner rather than later.

thank you

thanks Jacqui.  I've been very fortunate with all my buyers.  Hope this one turns out the same.  I haven't heard back in 2 days so I'll give him until next week.  Appreciate your assistance.

Why not using some video capture software?

Why not using some video capture software? I used HyperCam free trial for a while, it seemed to work for me.
