Whenever you apply to a job,
Whenever you apply to a job, it gives you an example of a good cover letter.
You want to make sure you read over the job description thoroughly, and answer any questions posed in the job description, followed by WHY you are the best candidate for the job. Personalize each cover letter to each job.

Hi Friendz,

And resumes usually contain contact info. Handing out contact info before the interview stage is not allowed.

I would also like to add:
When applying for jobs, especially jobs posted by native English speakers, double and triple check your grammar and spelling!
Right now, you have a self-assessed English score of 5 on your profile. If the grammar in your cover letter is anything like the grammar in your original post here, it may reflect badly upon you when the buyer reads it.
So double check, triple check, have native English speaking friends check - do anything to make sure your cover letters prove that your self-assessed English score is worth the 5 you gave yourself!
Not everyone knows every little detail about English grammar (I know don't, I'll be the first to tell you that), and most people understand this. However, when dealing with buyers, you'll want to make that first impression count!

same issue.
I'm having the same issue with finding jobs. most of them keep sending me this reason: "Insufficient history on oDesk"
It's like I will never get a job unless I have worked at least an hour on the site, but how can I if no body will give me a chance? know what I mean?

Three things you need to
Three things you need to do:
* take oDesk tests in relevant areas of skills
* populate your portfolio with links and screenshots of the website you have designed and developed (specify which you have done for each website)
* write targetted coverletters.
Let me know if you need help finding links that have suggestions for each of these points or if you are able to fidn them yourself here in the community as well as in our Help Section.
