Can't we possibly have some sort of awards for Newbies? It would be such a shot in the arm. Often applications get lost in the crowd & the seasoned older providers, bag assignments owing to high feedback scores. The newbie is just left with cutting back his pricing & hoping to bag his first job. Gradually becoming disillusioned. Some newsletter, some mention on the site or some award - just anything to keep these guys with oDesk, motivated & driven. The help-desk staff sure pitches in, guiding the newbie - but an award for just setting up your profile or loading relevant projects and so on could be so much fun & encouraging. And these needn't be any cash awards just maybe an image of a trophy on the profile page.

But are you suggesting that we also feature providers who got 5* feedback for their first assignment?

BTW - for all those newbies & ones losing hope: I bagged this assignment within 2 days of listing my profile!
joined oDesk on Sept 25th but worked a week on the profile, delaying the odesk readiness test so I wont appear in the provider search. Once I listed myself I had 4 interviews lined up, 1 closure within a day! I had applied to 10 positions. yep, this sure works! A robut profile is the name of the game.
