what could be wrong?
Hello all ,
I have been a member of Odesk for more than one year, but not been hired more than a few times. I guess I am unable to convince buyer despite all my efforts. What could be the reason? Any help would be welcome.
thanks

only an Odesk buyer can
only an Odesk buyer can tell if he/she prefer a programmer with impressive test results.
I don't personally thing that tests are the only reason a buyer would prefer a provider.
something could be wrong...
If I have to pass test to
If I have to pass test to see that, what is the reason for existing of this forum? I wanted to know about the people who already have experience about it.
Enovator, people already
Enovator, people already told you the reason. And there could be only 2 reasons - your test scores and cover letter quality. And by looking on low test scores in your profile i can suppose that your skills are considered to be not enough by buyers.
P.S. Excellent test results are 95% of winning the job. By excellent results i mean score of 90-95% and higher.
Sharing the experience.
there are many providers on
there are many providers on odesk who have been hired many times and have more than 1 assignment at their hands, who didn't pass even a single test nor they have any portfolio( I am talking about graphic/web designer). what will you say about it?
They may be working as
They may be working as affiliates under Provider Company, or they may have old and proven relations with buyer outside of oDesk and chosen oDesk only as platform for project management and payment fulfillment. Or dumping the price, or .... there are many ways.
Everything depends on you - your test scores, your impression on buyers. If they are not enough from your side - you are being missed by buyer's choice.
Your...
English Skill (self-assessed) is being contradicted by your English Test result, you should at least re-take that exam or lower your self-assessed rating.
It's often the little things
You claim a "5" in English ability, as do almost all oDesk providers. Your score on the English sentence structure test, however, is "3.75 30%" ... that shows me that you overestimate your ability in English because 70% of the persons who took the test scored higher than you did. It makes me wonder if you are overestimating your graphics ability where you claim a "5", and it makes me not want to hire you.

You have errors in the text for your skills, such as "I am expert in Coral Drawr" which makes you look sloppy. I would not trust you to accurately type text on an ad for me if you can't get the name of the software correct.
**************
Resume makes me wonder:
"NUCS (National University of computer Studies)" ... first, it should be capitalized correctly, and do you mean NUS (National University of Singapore) or do you mean NUCES (National University of Computer and Emerging Science) in Pakistan? It's not good when I can't find the school you went to by the name you call it.

Your profile title is wasting space : " Professional Photo Editing Guru, 6 years of experience in Photoshop"
Professional (we hope you are) Photo Editing Guru (that is your opinion, not measurable) , 6 years of experience in (belongs in experience) Photoshop"
Put words that describe your main skills: Photo editing, Web Page Template design ... stuff like that.
It those little things are
If those little things are the reasons why I am not being hired many times, you should have many assignments in your profile.

Thanks God you are not a
Thanks God you are not a buyer
they did not hire you

Yes, I should. shouldn't I
I joined oDesk 2 years ago, and immediately became too busy with other writing sites to apply for any jobs here. I've been active for a bit over a month, and have an assignment.
My pay rate is too high for those "Write my blog for cheap" and "Write a bazillion articles for cheap" buyers - I can make more money writing that stuff and selling it elsewhere.

Your test results aren't
Your test results aren't impressive at all?
