Pay Rate & oDesk %
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me undestand the pay rate. According to oDesk FAQ,
How much does the work cost?
What you see is what you pay. The hourly rate listed in a provider profile is the total amount that you pay as a buyer. There are no other fees. Ever. If you agreed to a fixed price job, the total amount agreed is your only cost.
How does oDesk make money?
Awww, shucks, thanks for thinking of us. oDesk does take 10% of the total charge rate and the rest of the payment is guaranteed to the provider.
With that being said, if a provider has a posted rate of $4.00, why is the pay rate $4.44? $5.00 = $5.56 > my guess would be its 11%. Possibly FAQ is not up to date? Here's where I need more explanation, a fixed price assignment is $65 and oDesk has it posted as $72.22. Is there a fixed % that oDesk charges? Or does it vary?
Thanks in advance,
Andrea
can you please elaborate
hello,
your response to my question was - "oDesk does take 10% of the total charge rate"
Could you explain to me how you come up with the total charge rate? I had a fixed price agreement for $65 and your charging me $72.22
If $65 is the total charge + 10% = $6.50 my total comes to $71.50
Am I missing something?
Andrea
Total charge is $72.22.
Total charge is $72.22. 10% fee is $7.22.
Please Explain
Hello again,
Maybe its me but, I'll ask again, can you please "explain" how you came up with the total charge rate. If the agreed upon amount for a fixed rate assignment is $65, how do you get a total charge rate of $72.22?
It is the "how" that I'm trying to understand. You've told me more than once that the total charge rate is $72.22 and I know what 10% of that is $7.22. But "how" did you arrive at $72.22 as the total charge amount?
If you're unable to explain, I'd appreciate you being honest and just saying so instead of giving me vague and unanswered questions.
Thanks in advance,
Andrea
Total charge = agreed
Total charge = agreed amount / 0.9
For example, 65/0.9=72.(2)
Thank You
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You evgenym
Now if it's not too much trouble, can you explain what the 0.9 is? As in, what is it applied to - tax, fee? additional oDesk fee? Where is it going?
Thanks in advance,
Andrea
oDesk does take 10% of the
oDesk does take 10% of the total charge rate. That means that you take 90% of the total charge rate. 90% is 0.9.
Hi, the problem here is...
that you are computing the 10% from your net bid, the 10% should be computed from the total project cost, meaning your bid + oDesk fee, so in your example above of $65 and $72.22, the 10% should not be computed from your bid of $65.00, but rather from the total project cost of $72.22, which will have a 10% fee of $7.22.
But since you bid $65.00, nothing was actually taken from you, as always oDesk charge their fee on top of your bid.
Regards
let oDesk explain it
