As a Buyer, Can I pay in non US currency?

Hello,

 I'm in Canada, and my provider is in Ukraine. Can I pay in Canadian currency so that between the two of us we don't have to pay exchange fees twice?

I have been working with him for a few weeks and spent over a thousand dollars in USD, and expect to do a lot more work together. Being able to use Canadian currency will save a lot of money in the long run.
