First Interview!
I just wanted to share:
I've been on here for a couple months well.
I applied to myriad jobs and most of them "expired". It got so bad that oDesk sent me an email asking my why I wasn't working yet! LOL!
I was about to give up, when I said to myself, keep trying. Something will give!
I reviewed my profile and made no changes as I feel that I have represented myself accurately.
I applied to a couple more jobs over the past two days and...lo and behold!
Today I was invited to my first interview! Nothing's come of it as yet...but I am just so excited...I feel validated and happy and can't wait to start working, should I actually get the position.
Well, that's all really...I just wanted to share with my fellow providers...

Wow...ok...this was something of a blow.
After I did everything asked of me, I wasn't chosen due to lack of oDesk History?
What does that even mean?
How am I supposed to accumulate "history" if I'm not given the opportunity to work?
This was an unexpected blow...Yes, I know Olga said I may not even get it but it still hurts, you know?
Oh well...the waiting game doth resumeth...
What's a person to do?
I feel ya. How is a person to get odesk experience if the person is not given a chance. Does a buyer just decide one day to give you a chance? I am new to odesk as well and I have a fulltime job with a wealth of knowledge and experience in alot of the jobs posted.
When does tenure or work experience count for anything? I applied myself with odesk because I know that I would be a valuable asset to someone out there and I have so much to give of myself to provide an invaluable service for a buyer. This can truly be discouraging at times, so anyone out there that cares to share more, please do so.
And to my friend that had the interview, hang in there and keep on keepin on!

What's a person to DO???
Yes I feel the same as I have applied for many jobs and even lowered my rate so we will see if that may help. It is very upsetting to think there is people out there who have been here longer than I and they are struggling with the work force!!!! I am ready to work today now !! But no interviews , at least I'm not alone

As I updated, the job that I initially posted about, did not come through.
But, I am thrilled to report that another one has! Without an interview, even...I just got the email saying the client hired me!
The tears I shed now, are in no way melo-dramatic...for some of you on here, oDesk is just a side project for extra income, but I am not ashamed to say, for personal reasons and limitations, I know I am not the only one for whom oDesk represents a primary and solitary income...
Something's gotta give...it will, for everyone...I didn't feel hopefull a few hours ago, based on the rejection...but I sopped it up and tired again...
TRUST ME when I say, I know what it's like to be in the waiting line...

I'll keep my fingers crossed it works out for you, but don't get upset if it doesn't. Just keep applying - and writing targetted coverletters each time you apply.
