1 postDue to the huge popularity of our recent segment on Good Morning America, we have been overloaded and unfortunately have had to temporarily disable the oDesk Pioneer Training Room. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and are trying to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
Please note: you can still pass the oDesk Readiness Test. If you attempt to log in with the oDesk Team client you will see an error message, but you can still right-click the oDesk Team icon in your system tray or dock and answer the test questions.
Thanks,
oDesk

Any plans to bring it back?

When I right - click the icon it just shows me "Login", "Quit", "Force Quit".. etc.. no questions whatsoever.
By the way what credentials should I use for the log in? Is it my odesk username and password?
jpittenger
I believe you need to left - click to see the menu. Please see this tutorial for more info.
You use the same username and password you use here on the website.

I don't see any option to take the oDesk readiness test anywhere on either of the menus that come up from clicking on the system tray icons. The tutorial linked above does not address this, either.
jpittenger
I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood you. I was directing you to more information about the Team client.
Here's a link to the oDesk Readiness Test (it's also always in my signature).

I am going to assume that 8 messages was a delay that caused duplicates. However, posting for help in the NEWS section will not help you at all.
Use the live chat feature. Doreen

You can't log in until you have an active assignment. Do you have one?
I've deleted the duplicate posts.

I don't see any option either to do the ORT. I have Team for Windows and only see Login. When I log on I get an error message saying ''You cannot logon with Team unless you have an active assignment". Please some more clear details how to take the test.

See Jacqui's post - use this link

links you have provided do not answer the problem. Despite MUCH looking and right clicking (using a MacBook Pro) there is simply no access to the ORT.
doreenmartel
Will take you directly to the test. Take it from that screen. You do not need to do anything else.

Click on:
oDesk Readiness Test for Independent Contractors and Company Managers
There's a yellow yellow button "Start Test", click on it and take the test.
For skill tests
Go to:
http://www.odesk.com/tests
On the first column of each test, you will see "Take test". click on it.
There you go
Hope this helps!

I have recently registered with oDesk and am trying to familiarize myself with all of it's features. I am interested in the mock version of the Pioneer Team Room but have it found it to be "temporarily" disabled since November 14th of last year.
Your introduction to this feature contains the following quote;
"Figuring out how to log time, write memos, and access the Work Diary
can save you a lot embarrassment and hassle on your first 'real' job."
I agree entirely with this statement. Not having the knowledge or ability to use the available resources will greatly reflect as a lack of professionalism.
Are there any plans to reintroduce this feature?
I believe this would be an important tool for the orientation process of new members but it is also scheduled to expire two weeks from registration. Will there be any exception to this limitation for members that have been unable to access this feature?
I have completed the oDesk Readiness Test and am currently preparing my Provider Profile, but would also like very much to familiarize myself with all of the available tools and resources before attempting to present myself to prospective Buyers.
Your response is greatly appreciated.
jpittenger
There are plans to bring the Pioneer Team Room back. I'll check on the timeline for reactivation.

Any word as yet on the possibility of reactivation?
The video tutorials available in the Resources page are helpful, but it's hard to beat the "hands on" approach that the mock version of the Team Room could provide.
Or even possibly providing a test or mock assignment that each provider could access in an effort to familiarize themselves with the system.

I want to also know about the possibility of bringing it back. I have already applied for 2 jobs but if we can test in demo mode, we can work better here. Pls bring it back fast.

I tried to download and install the oDesk Team. When i try to log-in, i wasn't able to connect it because it says that I can't log-in with team unless i have an active assignment. So, how can i get an assignment? Do i need to look one or i'll just wait until i got one?
And how can i proceed and have myself become a oDesk Readiness Test?
You said that:
"If you attempt to log in with the oDesk Team client you will see an

your system tray or dock and answer the test questions."
So how can i do this? I tried but i didnt see any improvement
pleae help and hope to hear from you.

Having followed all the instructions, both in this thread and on the odesk site, I still can't figure out how to take the ORT.
Obviously I'm new to odesk. I've joined because my customer likes using this system. And I can see why. It appears to be great, except for being unable to take the test!
I have an assignment which I need to start today - can anyone please give clear and straightforward instructions about how to take the ORT? I've been working with computers for a decade so it's not as though I'm stupid, but it really is very confusing.
Many thanks
Kate

It seems "The testing service is unavailable" as of now.
Cheers,

Kate, if you already have a customer lined up, you don't need to pass
the ORT to get started. Just have the buyer invite you to the job, then
accept the invitation so the buyer can hire you.
You only need to pass the ORT to start applying to other jobs on your own.

Once you are hired for your first assignment, you will be able to run oDesk Team and log your time.
Meanwhile, please view this Video on logging time and oDesk Team Help relevant to your operating system.
Good luck,
Olga

also have another question, i seen jobs for like 1 dollar or less, so I change my rate to 1 or whatever the job says it pays. But i only did that cuz I wanted to see if these jobs are for real, do people really only pay one dollar or like i seen 6cents one time....R those for real??
michelle_walker 6 posts - United States - Joined Jul 15 2009
I read the pay date stuff on the help screens. but still a bit confused about when you get paid. So is it paid weekly or by my best guess by looking at the help screens, looks like it's paid every 3weeks, which is correct?
jpittenger
Payments are processed weekly - you just get the money a week and a half after the work week ends.

Oh thanks for that information, that really helps to know. I was on another site and it was 3months before you would get a check and you had to have a balance of at 75 dollars. Since I'm new to odesk, I'm just inquiring about the site and such, never know these days with all the scams out there. Tough times and people are in desperate need of money to survive however there seems to be more scams out there these days then ever before...stinks people have to take advantage...
