More details about tests?
Please improve the tests by adding more details about them. Right now the syllabus for many tests consist only of a few works. I think this is now enough, and in many cases it is impossible to prepare correctly for some of the tests.
Please add more information, e.g. recommended reading (book ISBNs, URLs), "what's not included" for tests where this is relevant.
A good example for relevant syllabus info is the huge set of certifications made by Prometric.
Thank you,
A.
Just more details!
I'm not asking to copy Prometric, nor to partner with them - just to provide more information about each test, so that users can better prepare prior to taking tests.
Form the very short syllabus many tests have right now, it's not easy to "collect"(in order to review, or whatever) the required material - like in case of Prometric or other players.
Thank you,
A.
just take the tests

Just take a test, if your score is not that good, hide the test in your profile. Based on the test experience figure out the required material on your own (Google is your friend), study it, and retake the test.
Not helping...

Sorry but this is not constructive at all.
I thought this forum is called "Feedback", and it's supposed to improve the quality of oDesk.
For the tests I've seen, there's a 3 week delay until one can re-take the test, so re-taking them until it's OK, is not an option (and IMHO it would be a very "ugly" approach too).
Besides, effective and nice test descriptions could attract many new users to oDesk (users that wouldn't otherwise even sign up): - they could take the tests and add the test results to their "public" profile. This could contribute later to things like:
- making free publicity for oDesk (linked from many personal pages, CVs, blogs).
- the use of oDesk for real (since the tests would be already taken, users would be motivated to try oDesk for real)
- employers, aka potential buyers to use oDesk now, since they find the references in those CVs.
Well, this was just a suggestion to make everybody's life easier.
Thank you,
A.
it works
We will pass on your

Above are the statistics of the Excel 2007 & 2003 test. There is no way of telling how many of the test takers were retests.
Are the buyers and odesk aware of the complexity of these tests? I was recently in the interview process for a data entry position but my candidacy ended because I didn't pass the Excel 2007 test. The buyer expressed needing someone with BASIC EXCEL skills and is under the impression that these are basic aptitude tests. These are not a basic skills tests. This test is more for tech support, networking, or programmers not for data entry/customer service. I think there should at least be different level of testing depending on the job classification.
