still can't logon when I try to run the team client
It either thinks my password is the old password before I changed it. When I type godesk at the terminal prompt here's what happens: I get a window that's all blank except for the upper left corner. It says 'odesk team' in the title bar and then has a menu bar with File, Edit, and Help below it. Below that it has these 3 things:
State: Disconnected
Keys: 0
Clicks: 0
If I click on the File drop down menu and click Login, a little window comes up. I put in my username 'aposner' and the new password that I recently changed on the odesk website, then hit Login, then it tries to connect but says 'Invalid username or password'. I successfully changed my password on the odesk website, dont know what to do at this point, please help !
By the way, I downloaded the godesk_1.3.2_ubuntu7_i386.deb from the download site. But it's only 284k and it says
'This
single-install download is the full oDesk Team client application,
which will only be fully functional if used in conjunction with an
oDesk Team
Online Account with a valid license to access the
Service'. I do have an account but maybe I need to download something
else ? Also, one of the questions on the odesk readiness test asked
about an icon in the system tray when I attempt to run odesk, ie, if I
do this: /usr/bin/godesk, I don't get any icons just a mostly blank
window with a File menu, as I said above.
What should it look like ? Thanks
You won't be able to log in
You won't be able to log in with the Team client if you don't have access to any teams. You don't yet have an active assignment, and everyone's Pioneer Training Team Room access had to be temporarily suspended.(http://www.odesk.com/community/node/5451) When you do have access to a Team, you'll log in with the same username/password you do on the website.
Pioneer access is not necessary to pass the oDesk Readiness Test, fill out your profile, apply to jobs, or be hired. It's just a 'playground' to help you familiarize yourself with the tools used during assignments.
If pioneer access isn't reactivated before you start your first assignment, you can take some time when your job starts to familiarize yourself with the tools - then immediately delete any time you logged 'testing' from the work diary.
