Getting Started
Hello everyone... I am new to oDesk and passed some skills and so is the readiness test. I got the oDesk team downloaded too. I got a few questions and hope to get a few tips and help.
First, how was your first time at oDesk? I mean getting all set-up for applying jobs. Is it hard or complicated at first like any other jobs? Do I need to get used to the things said on the video tutorial before I should attemp to apply? Would you give me some tips on how to start, please...
Second, what are the things I should download besides oDesk Team to make my work run smoothly (recommended downloads)?
Respectfully yours,
Maan
Some suggestions
Since data entry is *very* competitive perhaps part of your problem may be your profile. Here are some recommendations:
A) Change your overview - a few quick short sentences that say why a buyer should try you vs. other providers;
B) Your tests - take some additional tests (or better yet, repeat some of your lower scoring ones);
C) Fix your headline - If you want to call attention to yourself - don't put Want a hard worker? as what the buyer sees first: Try something like "Data Entry Specialist" or "Data Entry Professional"
D) Think about including a photo of yourself - personalizes your profile
E) Consider accepting a couple of 'quick' fixed rate jobs to get some feedback!
F) Make sure you write strong and definitive original cover letters for each job - explain *why* you're the best person for the job!
Good luck!
Doreen
Thanks Doreen.
Thanks Doreen.

Good luck getting a job here. Not sure what the problem is but I have been with ODesk for sometime now and never seem to get the chance for even an interview. Most of the jobs that I apply for end up being cancelled because of length of time has expired on the job posting. I wish you much luck. I think it is time for me to maybe give up the ghost here.
