laid off by the auto industry?

oDesk is curious to know if there are any providers out there who were recently laid off by the auto industry. Did you work at Ford, GM, or Chrysler? Or, do you know of an oDesk provider who did? If so, please drop us a line. We’d love to hear about it.

My husband has just been laid off. Works for Dura Automotive they made break,clutch parts for the big 5. Company moved to Mexico. No other work in this area without driving over 50 miles one way to work. Cannot move, just purchased this house two years ago. Not sure what is going to go on.

i worked as a cad designer for automotive in italy, next year will be a little or no work, i hope to find some work trough odesk (i will build a profile soon), i really enjoy cad works and 3d.

Was laid off April of 2006. Haven't worked since. I have a Bachelors degree in Marketing and would like just a VA type job. Struggling for two weeks here looking for work and doing tests.

My husband is an owner operator who hauled auto parts for GM. He has been off for two months so far. We also bought house two years ago and still paying for the truck. I am trying to get work on Odesk to help with some bills,food,etc. Its rough!

I was doing a project for a guy who was working for ford he got aid of so doesn't had money to pay for the project so I lost all my hard work I hope he finds a new job so I can get paid for my work

I was subcontracted to do work as part of a team for General Motors last year. I will never, ever, ever do any work for them again, nor will I ever buy one of their cars. I can't get into any more detail due to legal issues (the whole situation went to civil court), but I can at least say that I have no sympathy for their plight at the moment. They're a company that brought it upon themselves.
My uncle used to work for GM as well, and would get "laid down" every six months (translation: getting "laid down" is like getting laid off, but with the knowledge that GM will hire you again once they hit their peak schedule.) This went on for over 10 years.
They're a horrible company..

i was laid off 6months ago. Ive never been fired or laid off in my whole life until recently. so i am trying to finally put my brain to good use and make money on the internet.

I wasn't laid off, but my business has dropped over majorly this year.
I manufactured Engine control units for non emission tested vehicles and off-road cars, for most G.M. products. With the drop off of sponsorships in racing events people simply cant afford to go with aftermarket components.
Hopefully Odesk will provide me with enjoy income to finish up my college degree and stay on my feet

My husband works for a Chevy company as a bodyman, I've been laid off from my job since Feb. unemp. about to run out soon. Not sure if I'll get the "promised" extension from the President from unemp. But work for my husband has been extremely slow, bring in only 30hrs for two weeks, got two kids and a dog, mortgage, car and bills to pay. Need money bad and have lots of time to work, so willing to work for just about anything and any length of time. I just joined today and have taken 6 tests so far. Hopefully will get some jobs soon.
