End Candidacies is failing???
This is the second posting of this Topic. Where did the other one go?
Why can I not delete or end a candidacy? My quota is full of old applications and I need to delete some for more current applications, but the system will not allow it. Why not?

We are looking into the problem.

Dmitry.

Seems that Firefox is affected. You can end candidacy in IE or Google Chrome, while we are fixing it.
Thanks!
Dmitry.

Indeed, Firefox 3.0.11 is the Browser that fails. Opera 9.64 works perfectly.
Thanks for the tip.

same problem for me, wanted to end a candidacy but it's just not working...
Hope you guys will fix ALL the annoying BUGS soon.
Another bug e.g. is THIS forum!!! 95% of the time the insertion of smileys does not work as well as changing the font color.
It works only while you create a message, but once you post it, it is only in simple black and white and all smileys are gone too.
Good luck,
Rick

The smiley's thing isn't a bug. It has to do with your forum account settings. You need to be set to Full HTML for smilies to work. Try clicking your name on a post you made (perhaps the one above). It'll take you to the forum account settings area.

Hi Jacqui,
I guess you talk about :
"Enable rich text editor while authoring " ???
Anyhow, the box is ticked and I have never changed anything in the forum settings and sometimes I'm able to post with smiley's and sometimes not. Usually, the smiley's are displayed if I have not deleted them, means: I choose smiley A and it will work most probably, but if I choose smiley A, change my mind, delete it and choose smiley B - then nada...
Coloring text has also never worked, I mean I see the option and the color of the font changes within the Html message editor but once I press on preview or post it...- all colors are gone.
Anyhow, this is a very small annoyance compared to not being able to end my candidacy or assignment.
In regards to your reply/advice to my $ 1K assignment:
There was absolutely no need to apologize! - I do not expect you to read every single post on this forum and additionally give a response. However, your advice was very much appreciated.
Just to keep you updated:
I got a response from my buyer, he was sick and all of a sudden he seems to be in Germany. We will have a chat in a couple of hours and if he still does not agree to a small retainer & milestones then I will end my assignment. By the way, I have not received a single dime till now. (Hopefully the "end candidacy/assignment" buttons will work by then again.
Thanks a ton!
Cheers,
Rick

I did feel bad about my lack of reply on your post, because I swear, I wrote one! Must have closed the window before I pressed submit - I hate it when that happens.
Hmmm, does seem I got the smilies wrong - you're right it's not in the forum user settings. It's in the top post of the thread's settings (it was late, and I didn't double check). (I'm going to correct my comment above so no one gets sent on a wild goose chase.
Seems that only an admin or the forum poster can change the setting by editing the top post - and it affects the entire thread. The default setting has been reset a couple times to help avoid users posting spam images (spam text is bad enough - I think we can all agree we don't like having the pictures!). I haven't had any trouble posting a smiley in months, but I don't use that in most posts. I'll check with engineering on that. Not exactly high priority to change, but I guess I should find a more definitive answer for why and how.

I also cannot accept interviews or end candidacies or firefox.
This is very critical issue. Without this fixed how are we suppose to do any work on oDesk.
Also I think problem is now a week old.

This problem still persists but you can always download IE. You are not prevented from working, you just need to use IE (unfortunately) instead,
Yes the FireFox problem still persists, even after the maintenance over the weekend. I had to crack open IE in order to decline an interview.

Engineering team reports this bug is now fixed.

As of midnight GMT 7 July:
Yeah, finally it works and I am able to end my candidacy for a job, I realized much too late that this employer hired in the past someone for a transcription job @ 33cents an hour...
I just can't work for any slaves drover, even if he is willing to pay me $44 an hour.
