Please review my oDesk profile
Hi everyone,
I'm a freelance designer in real life, and I was glad to know that on oDesk I can find some additional clients to my usual work schedule. But unfortunately, I've been applying to jobs for about 2 months now and still got no offers even for an interview.
I started worrying that something might be wrong with my profile, could you be so kind as to look through it. I've been polishing it a lot in the last weeks, adding my previous work and skills. All comments and wishes are welcome!
Thank you very much in advance,
Evgeni Vasiliev

Wow!
You have an excellent profile.
There are two areas where something may have gone wrong.
1. Your hourly rate: It is $8.89 as of now. Some buyers may wonder if you are the one who passed all those tests with top 10% scores and if you are the one who has done those 25+ portfolio items. I recommend you to rise your rate! May be, when you set your rate at $18.89 or more, you may get more projects than you could possibly handle.
2. Cover letters: I hope I needn't explain this. I believe you write customized cover letters.
HTH.

Thank you for the comment,
Frankly, I have started with a higher rate, but then as I didn't get any jobs for three weeks, I decided to lower it, just as others advice me to do. Just to show, that I'm ready to make first jobs to earn the feedback. So now I'm puzzled and was wondering whether I have to lower it yet more... $8.89 is not what I'm getting for my regular work, for sure

Your profile is great. Just try to make personalized, enticing cover letters.

I think you need to lower your rate for a start. majority of your (designer)competitors are in India & Philippines. they deliver good designs at a very low cost because labor cost in those countries are very low to compare with the western countries' labor cost.
You have a very good portfolio and that could be your edge. But some buyers are still too cynical if you really deserve the rate you have posted. They need to see the real deal -- referring to the feedbacks. I'd suggest you start at a lower rate (it would just be a start). and as you attract buyers with your skills & inexpensive rate, they might give you good feedbacks. and good feedbacks are also one of the main preferences of the target buyers. Then you can start raising your rate there.
Just my two cents.
Hope this one helps.

Thank you. I believe, I have to practice writing cover letters. I always customize them for each job, of course. Rick, I will try to find a better portrait, thank you for the advice!
