Portable odesk team
It would be great if odesk team was a "portable" app so that it could be run from a flash drive without being installed on every system I choose to work on. I am not sure if this is possible but if someone can make a portable version of Microsoft Office, and they have, it should be possible with odesk team.
This would be a great benefit to people who don't always do their odesk work on their own system. I am not at home today but I have time to work on an odesk project. Since I don't have administrator rights on the machine I am working on, I cannot install odesk team.

I have made a copy of the oDesk directory from my c drive to my h drive (Usb) and moved the oDeskLib.dll to c:\program files\oDesk\oDesk Team\
Registred the keys by running this file: i.e oDesk.reg ( you have to create this yourself)
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODesk]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODesk\MiniCam]
"Version"="1.0.23"
"Path"="H:\\oDesk\\oDesk MiniCam\\oDeskMiniCam.exe"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODesk\MiniCam\UsedBy]
"oDesk Team"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODesk\ScreenSnap]
"Version"="1.0.71"
"Path"="H:\\oDesk\\oDesk ScreenSnap\\oDeskScreenSnap.exe"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODesk\ScreenSnap\UsedBy]
"oDesk Team"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODesk\Team]
"Version"="1.1.32"
"Path"="H:\\oDesk\\oDesk Team\\oDeskTeam.exe"
It should be a strait out configuration and it runs from either a CD/DVD or USB Harddrive

This is great stuff, thanks to Jan for publishing this info for our users.
A lot of the internal oDesk engineers on the team noticed this post and were thrilled to see oDesk Team being used in this way.
We're going to link to this info from our FAQ.

Thanks Jan that is helpful but I still think the odesk engineering team needs to come up with a more elegant solution.
For example, not every machine will assign the same drive letter to my portable drive or usb key which will require editing the registry every time. Also many machines have user accounts blocked from adding registry settings this way which is understandable.
