oDesk Share: End of Life

oDesk Community,

oDesk Share was an application that oDesk created to enable users to share their desktops with each other and allow real-time collaboration among members of remote workteams. Over time competitors have emerged that do a great job at sharing desktops, and since this is neither our core functionality nor a widely adopted feature we have decided to not invest in oDesk Share any longer. In fact, those of you who have downloaded the next generation oDesk Team app for Windows (currently in beta) may have noticed that oDesk Share is not included in its feature-set.

As of now, oDesk Share for Windows, Linux/Unix and Mac are no longer being supported. While only a small percentage of oDesk users took advantage of oDesk Share's features, we understand that live desktop sharing is important to some teams. To continue this sort of collaboration with your team, we suggest offerings from Oneeko and Yuuguu. Both have free tiers of service that have surpassed the current oDesk Share functionality (and paid service tiers for those interested in even more advanced features).
