Can you suggest a good monitor and a key board

Hi,

Most of us here spend a lot of time before a monitor and use a key board. I have not (may be I did not look hard enough) come across anyone suggesting /recommending - a good keyboard or a monitor for a professional *writer*.
I think it is only natural that we should look at those aspects?
What do you think?

What about those ergonomic key boards?

You guys have any thoughts?
Care to share?
What about laptops?
What is the ideal screen size / resolution and a keyboard?

Thanks for your time.

Good morning

I can say as for keyboards I tend to like the one with the quit touch feature not sure about brand names though I just kinda go by the feel of it... I favor the logitech brands though Smile

As for monitors I can tell you one to stay away from LOL I bought a flat LCD wide screen 20 inch acer and that thing acts up so bad sometimes gets blury like it is out of focus!!

I'm looking for another but I will buy something other than an acer.

I have my eyes on this monitor from Walmart I might get soon http://www.walmart.com/Hp-20-LCD-Monitor/ip/10975620 not bad price either $148.00

Another thing I like to get is the little jell wrist pads that sets in front of your keyboard & some mouse pads have them as well. I have nerve damage in my hands & those really help!!

some thoughts

I suggest that if you are going to type for long periods of time: you should get an ergonomic keyboard. DO not go for the Microsoft Keyboard. China/Taiwan company A4Tech has some nice models with wrist rests. Those are the best I have come across - Cheap and Work Really NICE.

Laptops keyboards are like *hit for typing, use them only if you are going to be surfing and checking mail etc.

Ideal screen for me is 17" max, Use an LCD/TFT (monitors use lots of electricity, so GO GREEN!) I think 17" with 1280x1024 is enough for writing things and even some normal designing stuff too.

Cheers!

I personally like Microsoft

I love Microsoft when it comes to hardware innovations they made (but they have never been famous for it). For casual users, I highly suggest Microsoft Ergo 4000. It has only one issue (the key for number 6 is placed in such as way that it should be pressed using the left index finger). For writers, one of the advanced models of Microsoft would suit well.

What's wrong with a Microsoft

What's wrong with a Microsoft keyboard anyway? I have one with bluetooth connection. It does fail sometimes that I have to replug the receiver, but other from that it is comfortable and sleek Smile
