Top Provider Companies
Hello
It seems this is not getting updated. Any ideas why?
They put a toll for min
They put a toll for min feedback of 4,probably thats why many are missing...
This is Excellent!
Oconomy is really great!
object is not public
Am I the only one who sees "object is not public" message instead of top provider companies?
Not working
oConomy not working for long. Anybody looking into it?
Top Providers isn't giving actual result
Top Providers isn't giving actual result, isn't it?
Sorry for delay - we are working on it
on Tue, 2008-04-22 15:40.Sorry about this view being down for the past few days. We're working to bring it back up. There is a performance issue with the way the view is being generated. Hope to have it restored soon.
Thanks for patience,
oDesk
view up but not getting refreshed with latest stats

So The Revenues Do Not Count .....
Does the definition of "Top Provider Company" only restricted to the criteria chosen by oDesk?
Not very impressive in a sense that how easily the contribution to the oConomy Meter ( http://www.odesk.com/community/oconomy ) showing $ 31 M not been considered at all.

Rating update
May I ask how often does this rating updated. I guess that it should be updated minimum once per day. But it looks like it updates more rare. Can U pls clarify.
Update frequency changed
on Wed, 2008-06-04 03:26.I've just changed this view to update once every day.
Previously, it was being updated once a week.

Thank U Josh!
Thank U Josh!
serial numbers for ranking...
Josh,
Perfect, The missing element though is the serial # for better display of the ranks. hope to see that soon as well.
Rank - Stats
Yes mit..I agree with you..Listing the Ranks numerically will definitely help but along with that it would be great to have "Previous Ranking" as well..something similar to "Billboard Countdown"..also I wish we have something like "Top 10 Gainers of the week" and "Top 10 Losers of the Week" to illustrate how Provider Companies flared in that particular week..also it would be great to have stats like "Current Rank", "Highest Ranking obtained", "Previous Rank", "Average Rank for Previous Week/Month" on the profile page of Provider Companies..the benefits of having such stats are obvious..its time for some "healthy" competitions!

Amal
Thanks everyone for great suggestions
on Thu, 2008-07-31 17:18.All,
Great suggestions for improvements. We're looking into how we can accomplish a lot of the suggested enhancements.

Smartdata
As always the work done is quality, providers are nice and willing to help and the project manager on top of everything. When does he sleep? I'm saving a lot of money on development using SmartData at Odesk. Thank you Krishan.
Hyperlink
As a buyer of services, a hyperlink to the providers profile will be great.
False feedback scores?
I noticed a strange thing – a feedback score for the #1 provider company (SmartData) magically changed from 4.05 to 5.00
I am not trying to question anyone’s integrity here. I hope that this is just an error that can be easily corrected. We fully respect SmartData position and view them as a leader on this marketplace.
But if oDesk wants to promote an honest competition, these type of things need to be explained. I think other providers will agree with me.
The feedback score shown is
on Fri, 2008-08-15 23:44.The feedback score shown is the average score for that provider company in the last 30 days (this is stated at the top of the chart). So everyone's scores will fluctuate (some up, some down)

This feedback score is everywere
This feedback score is not only on this chart. I checked and it shows 5.0 in the Provider Search as well in every profile that belongs to this company.
Are you saying that now the global cumulative feedback for every provider company on oDesk is the average score of just the last 30 days? If this is true then it is a very big change to oDesk policy. I haven't seen any announcements or discussion about it. Why would oDesk want to disregard years of company history? I am not sure this is a step in the right direction.
I am positive that our current feedback does not reflect just 30 days, so I am not sure how it works. What if there is no new feedback at all in this time frame?
I'll stand by my answer
on Sun, 2008-08-17 03:45.The smartdata profile clearly shows that their global cumulative feedback score is 4.53 (this is the number that appears in search results as well), and yet on this chart it shows 5. So it makes sense that this chart shows the average of the last 30 days, not the global cumulative feedback score. That, or the bug got fixed on the search results and not here yet.

Amazing
The most amazing thing is that they have moved from 4.05 to 4.53 (5 on oConomy in one day) . This takes a lot of doing with over 200000 hrs at stake. At that point moving up by .01 in feedback itself takes a lot of doing. Other providers will surely agree on this as well. Please clarify what is going on here.
It is hard to believe
Jacqui, The global feedback indeed was changed to 4.53 yesterday. But I agree with Sandeep that it looks very unrealistic. In the matter of days the feedback went from 4.05 (where it stayed for a long time) to 5.00, and then to 4.53 (just enough to display 5 stars). In theory in order to average from 4.05 to 4.53 on 100,000 hours, you will need another 100,000 hours with perfect 5.0 feedback. I doubt that this is possible to achieve in several days. It takes months for us to move the feedback by 0.01 and usually you have a greater probability to average down than to average up.
If this is a bug, why did it affect only one company? Also on the chart here it changed from 5.00 (yesterday) to 4.53 (today). Does it mean that their average feedback for the last 30 days was 4.53?
I feel the oDesk community deserves some explanation here.
I sent out questions
on Sun, 2008-08-17 22:25.I sent out questions yesterday to find out what happened - but it is only Sunday afternoon in California right now. And this isn't the sort of thing that I expect them to give up their weekend to work on. I ask that everyone please be patient until they've had a chance to investigate.

weekend over
The weekend is over and so is Monday.
Calculations
The calculations involved in the feedback are :-
The average feedback (which is shown)=Total feedback of all assignments/Total earning *100
In this case the total number of hours is 200000
Assuming USD 12 (a low rate per hour) the total earnings come to 2400000
For an average feedback of 4.05=Total feedback/2400000*100
Total feedback=4.05*2400000/100=97200
Now if average feedback=4.53
the total feedback comes to 4.53*2400000/100=108720
The change in total feedback = 108720-97200=11520
Which means a whopping 2304 assignments ending with a feedback of 5.0 to take the average feedback from 4.05 to 4.53 over 200000 hours.
So, what has happened is totally unbelievable as NO COMPANY can earn feedback of 5 over 2304 assignments in one day.
That means there is certainly something wrong here.
Scores of other companies don't fluctuate
Looks like it applies to SmartData only
Wrong
Jaqui, You are wrong. Even though oConomy shows the hours billed during the last 30 days, the feedback is for all hours logged on oDesk for a provider. To verify this you just need to login and check the profile of the concerned affiliate and you will see that the feed back is same there too. In fact, oConomy picks up the feedback score from the affiliate profile. I have been in touch with oDesk and it has been accepted as a bug. However, this was on Thursday 14th August and the bug has not been rectified so far. This is amazing as by the normally high standards oDesk has they don't take such a long time to rectify bugs. I also hope such bugs happen to the rest of us too
. I just hope it is rectified immediately.
Bug fix going out tomorrow
on Tue, 2008-08-19 23:00.All,
There was a bug discovered related to the size of the provider company in question. We had a limit on the number of records returned initially set to 1,000 and the affiliate had passed that number of records creating a problem in the calculations.
It has been addressed and will go live with tomorrow's release at around 6 pm PST. It may take up to 24 hours for all scores to be reset to the appropriate level. (the correct score is not 4.53)
Apologies for the bug and for the unfair competition in the marketplace for a week. I'm glad that all of you are watching closely.
Thanks,
oDesk
It's been less than 24 hours
on Thu, 2008-08-21 07:58.Sandeep, it's been less than 24 hours since the release. As Josh explained, please give it time to update.

Fixed!

Not the correct Declaration :(
Josh ,
I think some bit of hurry has gone in, preparing this list. Some of the affiliates are missing here not to mention the " Top Affiliate " as well.
I am sure to see an amended list from your end soon
