It is interesting that the 'top providers' in some instances have only one feedback. I think that there should be some way to categorize 'top providers' something like 'top providers by category' - this grouping all seems to be developers - I see there is an 'adjusted' feedback score which I find interesting - I think personally I'd like to see this be a broader cross section, perhaps "Top 10" categories broken out by "Affiliate" "Freelance Provider" and then further broken out by categories of "Writer", "Developer" etc based on oDesk categories. I think this would give us a clearer picture of what is really happening.

It is really heartening to see so many of our engineers in the published list of top individual providers. The list has about 8 of our developers with good rating and overall oDesk hours. Congratulations for their well earned position and keeping the smartData Flag flying high

Test should be only for low experience providers
Why you weigh up the tests variable, if your graphs based on Feedback by Test indicates that this has not significative influence in the score?
BTW, my score is 4.85 and I've 1371 hs. and I'm not listed...

Silly Question

It's the provider's record
on Fri, 2008-05-30 22:42.It's the provider's record ID in the oDesk database. It's not random, it's just has no meaning to anyone outside the oDesk staff.

So am I safe in assuming that for instance record "2" was signed into the system before record "48624" in terms of time. Meaning "2" has been a provider for longer than "48624"?(note these may not be in this sheet just a 'for instance'. Sorry to be so curious :)Thanks

Listing not updated
Seems like the list is not getting updated, also I am not sure in which order the listing is being shown.

It gets updated daily
on Wed, 2008-06-04 03:31.The view does get updated daily and it's a ranking by total earnings in a recent time period. (sorted in descending order based on earnings - it is not displayed for privacy reasons)
FYI - we intend to expand on these views and rankings and show a variety of different rankings and also include direct links to individual provider profiles.

on Tue, 2008-06-17 14:00.This ranking is top providers by earnings (with a feedback score of at least 4.5). That requires working a whole lot of hours, earning a high hourly wage, receiving large fixed price/bonus payments, or a combination of all three.
Congrats on your 5 star work history and fantastic portfolio! Keep up the good work and you may make this list one day.

The answer is that this ranking is based on recent earnings (with the criteria that you must also have at least a 4.5 feedback score to be considered). While your total earnings are higher, but your recent earnings are not. It doesn't look at your entire work history, your tests, or your favoritings - just how much you've earned in the last XX days. I honestly don't know how many days exactly. I'll see if anyone can find me the actual number.
