The two primary roadblocks were #1 (my fault) the project had a lot of old, legacy code including old 1.x Rails versions and an old, hand-crafted schema, which took a long time to get up to speed on, and #2 the English language issue was more difficult than I had anticipated.  We then had a delay on my end, and in the end Yi's manager reassigned him during our period of delay. That is understandable, but communication about that fact would have been appreciated.
