Expert Publishing Consultant, Editor, and Writing Coach

I'm a professional publishing consultant, editor, and writing coach with years of experience in the publishing industry. When working with you, my mission is to be your go-to collaborator for your project by remaining highly focused on your needs and by providing high-quality deliverables tailored to your project's goals. We can begin working together at any stage of your publishing journey as my skills and services include writing coaching, beta reading, editorial assessments, developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, and publishing consulting. Having worked at two university presses, I have experience with manuscripts of all types including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, short stories, business, and education. As a freelancer, I've also worked with fantasy, romance, crime fiction, and other commercial genres. I also have a BFA in Creative Writing and an MA in Management in the Creative Economy. As your editor, I'm dedicated to helping you develop high-quality content that meets all of your goals. I understand the effort that goes into your writing and your desire for your content to be the very best it can be. Therefore, my deliverables include not only the edited manuscript but also edit reports and collaborative revision hours that are all focused on elevating your manuscript. As your publishing consultant, I can guide you through the digital and print publishing process to deliver your content successfully, all while building your author or company brand. Together, we'll navigate your project through the independent, hybrid, or traditional publishing landscapes. I can develop a strong publishing strategy for your content and aid with project management for various steps of the process—from performing market research to executing sales strategies. As your writing coach, I can guide you through the writing process by providing exercises and techniques. I can identify the weaknesses and strengths of your writing and then provide solutions for how to eliminate those weak points and enhance your strengths. My goal is to be someone you can bounce your writing ideas off of and someone who supports and challenges you as a writer. If you're interested in working with me or have any questions, just send me a message telling me about your project and we'll go from there! Types of editing: Developmental Editing A developmental edit focuses on the big-picture elements of your content such as plot, character development, pacing, narrative, etc. For nonfiction books, it focuses on the structure of your content, what objectives need to be met by each section, delivery, etc. If your content is completed but hasn't undergone any revision yet, a developmental edit is where you want to start. When doing a developmental edit of your work, I provide you with a commented manuscript that highlights every suggested revision, edit report(s) with detailed explanations of issues and proposed solutions, and collaborative revision hours to discuss the edits. Line Editing Line editing is a high-level edit that focuses on the language, tone, pace, descriptions, voice, and writing style throughout the manuscript. A line edit includes a mix of direct edits and recommendations for additional content or cuts. When doing a line edit of your work, I provide you with an edited version (using MS Word track changes so you can review the edits) and a style sheet for the specific terminology used in your work (adhering to the Chicago Manual of Style). Copyediting A copyedit focuses on the readability of your content by correcting for grammar, inconsistencies, awkward phrasing, sentence structure, repetitions, etc. When doing a copyedit of your work, I provide you with an edited version (using MS Word track changes so you can review the edits) and a style sheet for the specific terminology used in your work (adhering to the Chicago Manual of Style). Proofreading Proofreading focuses on correcting typos, spelling, punctuation, and other small errors. This is the last phase of editing. When proofreading your content, I provide you with an edited version (using MS Word track changes so you can review the edits) and a style sheet for the specific terminology used in your work (adhering to the Chicago Manual of Style).
