The oDesk Team application is the time tracking tool used on hourly assignments to enable automated billing and our payment guarantee. Providers use this application to log their time on hourly assignments. The time is automatically uploaded to the work diary and used to create weekly timelog reports. The buyer is automatically billed based on these timelogs.
You must log all working time on hourly assignments with the oDesk Team application to qualify for our payment guarantee. Logging time on fixed-price assignments is optional.
- oDesk Team counts the number of mouse clicks and keystrokes to determine your activity levels, but does not record where you click and what you type.
- A screenshot of the active monitor 6 times per hour.
- The name of the active window and application at the time of the screenshot.
- [Optional] Camera snapshot along with the screenshot 6 times per hour if enabled. This is encouraged, but optional. It can even be deleted separately from your other recorded activity.
For maximum privacy control, we allow you to delete any screenshot when it is captured (before uploading) or afterwards in the work diary (until the end of the work week). Just keep in mind that your buyer will not be charged for the time you delete. Time and activity are deleted together with the screenshot. Only the optional camera snapshots can be deleted separately.

The oDesk Team application is not a surveillance system. You have full control over what it records, can turn it on and off at any point and you can choose whether or not to share screenshots and activity levels. It's main purpose is to act as your hassle-free automated billing system and log your work diary as your proof of work (Verified Work = Guaranteed Payment).
All providers and even some buyers use the oDesk Team application. While the application is required for logging time on hourly assignments, any user with team room access can use it to record a work diary (only assignments are billed and included in reports).
The oDesk Team application is available for Windows, Mac and Linux/Unix. The application's features vary by operating system, but all offer verified time-tracking (with upload to the work diary) and privacy controls.
