Online Testing

All oDesk providers must pass the oDesk Readiness Test. You cannot apply to job openings unless you are oDesk Ready. This open book test is designed as a tutorial to help familiarize users with oDesk policies and practices. (effective June 4, 2008)


oDesk Tests enable providers to certify and improve their skills for the latest technologies and business practices. There are tests available in more than 100 of today's leading skills, and new subjects are being added constantly.

The tests are prepared by experienced professionals with several years of experience in their technical domains under ISO 9001-2000 specifications.  The questions have been through several rounds of analysis by experts to help build well balanced, comprehensive, and meaningful tests.

An active provider on oDesk (both freelancers and Affiliate professionals) has unlimited and free access to the entire collection of online tests. After taking a test, a provider can see the test score, percentile ranking, and strengths and weaknesses within areas of the test. Armed with this critical information, a provider can take the next steps toward skills improvement. Providers can also publish the test information on their oDesk profiles. oDesk Test scores on the profile enable the provider to stand out from the crowd.

For oDesk buyers, oDesk test scores enable them to make intelligent hiring decisions. A buyer can use the test scores on the providers profiles to search, rank and sort when they are looking to hire someone for a job opening. A buyer can also have providers take tests as a requirement for selection to their job opening.
