The staffing console is only used by provider companies. It is the control hub for staffing manager activity. Here you'll find a list of all your affiliated contractors, links to their profiles, assignments and candidacies and options to edit their profile rates and visibility.
Exclusive affiliated contractors cannot change their own profile rates. A staffing manager must do it for them.
- Go to Manage & Work > Staffing Console. Select the relevant team in the top left, if necessary.
- Check the box to the left of the correct affiliated contractor(s).
- Select Change profile rate in the menu at the top.
- Enter the New Rate. If the affiliated contractor is hired at the profile rate, your provider company will earn 90% of the hourly rate (the remaining 10% is the standard oDesk fee).
- Press the Change Profile Rate(s) button. The profile rates for all affiliated contractors you had checked will update immediately. You can change them again at any time.
Staffing managers cannot change non-exclusive affiliated contractors' profile rates and visibility.

There are three levels of profile visibility. But no matter which one you choose, buyers always have access to the profiles of their candidates, team members and favorite providers.
- Public: Everyone has access to these profiles and they are indexed by search engines like Google.
- Authenticated users: Only buyers logged into our site find links to these profiles.
- Private: Gives you maximum control and removes the profile from Find Providers searches.
Staffing managers cannot change non-exclusive affiliated contractors' profile rates and visibility.
You'll find quick links to your affiliated contractors' candidacies and assignments here in the Staffing Console. You can control their applications, rates, feedback, etc. just like you would you own. (Read more about managing candidacies and assignments.)
The one thing you don't have access to is editing affiliated contractors' provider profiles. They need fill out their own profiles with their own skills, work histories, portfolio items, etc. Affiliated contractors are working on behalf of your company, but they are still individuals with unique talents and experiences. Their profiles should reflect that.
Added users must accept the emailed invitations before they become affiliated contractors. When you end your affiliation, users keeps their provider profiles (including hours and feedback).
When an affiliated contractor works on an assignment, all earnings go to the provider company's financial account. The company is responsible for withdrawing and then distributing the earnings. You'll need to come to private agreements with the affiliated contractors about how and how much, you will pay them.
Many provider companies are co-located service firms with in-house payroll. But if you're running a virtual company, you'll probably want to withdraw to PayPal and pay your affiliated contractors through them. Payoneer is also introducing a sub-account system you may find useful (should be available Summer '09). We realize asking you to go outside oDesk to make these arrangements isn't ideal and we're working hard to enable payments to affiliated contractors inside oDesk in the future. (An oDesk-based payroll system for provider companies is now in alpha testing. Learn more and find out how to apply.)
Yes. The affiliation appears on the providers' profiles and next to their name through the system. Therefore the reputation of the provider company reflects upon the affiliated contractors. The feedback from every assignment worked on behalf of the provider company by every affiliated contractor becomes part of its overall feedback score.
Carefully consider who you allow to be an affiliated contractor and what assignments you have them working on - a problem with any of your members can damage the reputation of the entire team.
