Can my feedback be changed?

We encourage all buyers and providers to work out any issues they have before the end of assignments, but in some cases, users have a need to modify feedback scores after they have been submitted. We allow users to enable changes on feedback they received in order to facilitate the resolution of any outstanding issues on projects.


Please note:

  • This feature is intended to be used only after all issues have been resolved and you have discussed the feedback with the other user.
  • You may hide the comments associated with an assignment, but not the feedback score itself.
  • Only the feedback recipient can hide a comment- even though we show both provider and buyer feedbacks, side-by-side, in the provider profiles and buyer facts.
  • Once you click the "enable provider/buy to change feedback" link, oDesk will send an email to the user that left the feedback.
  • They will have up to 14 days to make a change to the feedback.
  • You may only make a request for changes once on each feedback received. If the 14 days expires without any changes being made, you will not be able to request a change to that feedback score again.

Enabling feedback changes

In order for the buyer or provider that left you feedback to change their scores and/or comments, you'll need to enable feedback changes on that assignment.

1. Log in using your oDesk user ID and password.




2. Go to My oDesk -> Get Hired (for providers) or Hire (for buyers) -> My Assignments






3. Select "Ended" in the drop-down menu.




4. Click the "Feedback received" link located in the Actions column next to the assignment for which you wish to leave feedback.


5. Press the "Click here to enable buyer/provider to change feedback" link located above your feedback score. This action CANNOT be undone. A request for changes can only be sent once, so make sure you've talked to the other user before you send the request.


6. You will see a confirmation message that your request for feedback changes has been sent.




Hiding feedback comments

In rare cases, you may want to hide the feedback comments that have been left on your assignment history. You cannot hide any scores, but if you feel a comment is inappropriate, you may choose to hide it from public view. Keep in mind that your assignment history will say that the comment has been hidden, which can look worse than a negative comment.

1. Log in using your oDesk user ID and password.




2. Go to My oDesk -> Get Hired (for providers) or Hire (for buyers) -> My Assignments






3. Select "Ended" in the drop-down menu.




4. Click the "Feedback received" link located in the Actions column next to the assignment for which you wish to leave feedback.


5. Press the Edit button.


6. To hide a comment, uncheck the box next to "Show as part of the public assignment history". If you decide to make the comment public again, you can recheck the box at any time.




7. Click the Submit button to log your changes.
