Assignment Rate Increase
The buyer has the option to increase the rate for any assignment at any time. It is natural for the working relationship to evolve and for the provider to take on more responsibility and a larger role in your organization. For this reason, oDesk encourages buyers to give high performing providers raises. If you don't your provider may eventually wish to end your assignment in favor of more profitable job offers. Please note that only the provider can decrease the assignment rate.
Changing the rate always ends the current assignment and starts a new one automatically. You'll have the opportunity to leave feedback for the provider on the old assignment. The provider has the opportunity to leave feedback for you as well. Since you're giving the provider a raise, you're probably very happy with the provider's work. Leaving 5-star feedback is a great way to show your appreciation!
In addition to, or instead of, giving your provider a raise, you may want to consider giving the provider a bonus. Click here to learn more.
If you are giving a raise to an Affiliated Contractor, please be aware that all payments go to the Provider Company's financial account, not to the individual provider working your assignment. You should talk to the Provider Company staffing manager to discuss their company policy on distributing earnings from an increased hourly rate.
The pay raise system only applies to hourly jobs. You are welcome to pay your provider extra for a fixed price job, but you'll use the usual fixed price payment system
To increase the rate on an Hourly Job:
1. Log in using your oDesk user ID and password.

2. Go to My oDesk -> Hire -> My Assignments.

3. Click the 'View' link in the Actions column next to the the correct job in the Active Assignments box.
4. Click the 'Increase Rate' link on the Assignment details page.
5. Enter the new payment rate your provider should receive in the "New Pay Rate" field. The oDesk Service Fee and New Charge Rate will be calculated for you. Changing the rate creates a new assignment - don't forget to leave feedback on the old one!
