Initiating an Interview
When you post a job you can choose one or both of the following options for sending invitations to interview:
- Wait for providers to apply to your job and invite them to interview from your list of candidates.
- Proactively search for providers and invite them to interview from the search list or provider profile.
The provider applied to my job
Follow the steps below to invite a candidate to interview:
1. Log in using your oDesk user ID and password.

2. Go to My oDesk -> Hire -> My Posted Jobs.


3. If you have hiring privileges for multiple teams, you'll need to select the team the job you want to look at is part of.

4. Click on the job title to view the job candidates page.
5. Check the box next to the candidate or candidates you want to invite to interview. Then click the Interview button at the top of the list of candidates.

6. Enter a personal message to the candidate or candidates. If you know you have any specific questions for the candidate, it's a good idea to enter them here. Let the candidate know if you'd like to be contacted back by email or chat. You may include your contact info, when, and how you would like to set up the interview. This message will be included with the interview notification emailed to the candidate by oDesk. In addition to this personal message, it's a good idea to send a follow-up email to the candidate's oDesk email address with all the details required to set up an interview with you.
Important Note: Candidates automatically accept your invitation to interview because they applied to your job themselves. You will be given access to the candidate's contact info (oDesk email address and YahooID) immediately after the invitation is sent.
The provider has not applied to my job
Follow the steps below to invite a candidate to interview:
1. Follow the appropriate option:

From the provider search results: Check the box next to one or more providers' mini profiles and click the Invite Selected to Interview button.

From the provider profile: Click the Interview button in top section above the Portfolio tab.

2. Select the correct Team/Company and Job Opening.

3. Enter a personal message to the candidate or candidates. If you know you have any specific questions for the candidate, it's a good idea to enter them here. Let the candidate know if you'd like to be contacted back by email or chat. You may include your contact info, when, and how you would like to set up the interview. This message will be included with the interview notification emailed to the candidate by oDesk. If the provider accepts the interview invitation, it's a good idea to send a follow-up email to the candidate's oDesk email address with all the details required to set up an interview with you.
Important Note: Providers have the option to accept or decline your invitation to interview. You will be given access to the candidate's contact info (oDesk email address and YahooID) only if the provider chooses to accept.
