What is Facebook Connect?
Facebook Connect is a trusted and seamless connection between sites like oDesk and Facebook. Facebook Connect allows you to publish interesting and relevant information (like jobs you posted) to your friends on Facebook.
What information will be shared on Facebook?
You can share jobs you posted on oDesk, updates to your profile and test results. Before any of this information is shared you will see the exact text and have an opportunity to approve or reject the post before it appears in your feed on Facebook.
How does it all work?
1. First you click the Share on Facebook button:
2. You will then be prompted to sign in or connect your Facebook account to oDesk. Once your signed in you will see a preview of what your post on Facebook will look like:
3. At this point you can choose to publish this in your Facebook feed or skip (if you choose to skip nothing goes to Facebook). When you publish an item it ends up looking like this:
How can I share jobs when I post them?
After you post a job look at the top of the page for a Facebook icon with a link after it:
Clicking on this link will prompt you with the exact text that will go to Facebook if you choose to publish it.
How can I share jobs i already posted?
If at any time you wish to publish a job on Facebook or re-publish an existing job to Facebook you can do simply by going to your openings page and clicking on the 'Share on Facebook' link:
Why would I want to share Jobs I post on oDesk with my Friends on Facebook?
It's a great way to get people you know looking and applying for the job you posted.
How do I share tests?
Go to the test summary page and next to each test you have passed you will see a link to share your results on Facebook.
How do I share my Profile updates on Facebook?
Providers can share their profiles buy going to the Provider Profile section in your account and clicking the share on Facebook link in the My Public Profile section.
Why would I want to share Profile updates and Test results with my Friends on Facebook?
Anytime you share your profile or test results on Facebook your telling everyone you know that your ready to work in your particular field. It's a great way to advertise your availability to people who you know.
How do I remove my Facebook account from my oDesk account?
If at any time you want to remove your Facebook account from oDesk you can go to Profile & Settings > Account Integration and click the 'disconnect' link.
