How do I log hours on an assignment?
oDesk guarantees payment for properly logged time on hourly assignments.
Adhering to the following will help you in maintaining proper timelogs of your work:
- Always turn on the oDesk Team client to log your time when working on an hourly oDesk assignment.
- Running the oDesk Team client is optional, but recommended, on fixed price assignments.
- If you are a member of multiple teams or have multiple assignments, make sure you log in to the correct assignment's team! (You need to use the buyer's team, not your own company's team.)
- In the case you can not connect to the oDesk Team server, notify oDesk.
- Annotate your time by using the Memo field (accessible via the systray menu of oDesk Team client) or from the Work Diary link in your team room.
- Go through your daily oDesk Team Work Diary and delete any non-work related time that was captured by oDesk as "active".
- Make sure there is no major discrepancy between the total active time captured between the oDesk Team client and the "logged" time reported in the timelog.
- Get the buyer's permission before adding offline time in your Work Diary. Payment for offline time is not guaranteed.
- Fixed price jobs will only appear on the the timelog for the week they are ended. Hours logged to a fixed price assignment using the oDesk Team client will not appear on your timelog.
- The timelog always displays in GMT. Work Diaries can be viewed in GMT or your local time.
- The work week ends Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. (23:59) GMT.
- The deadline for editing a Work Diary is Monday at noon GMT (12 hours after the end of the work week), at which time Work Diaries will be frozen and the corresponding timelogs sent to your buyer(s) for review.
Note that you will not be able to run oDesk team if you are not a member of any teams or if the active assignment start date is in the future.
