Finding Job Openings

Once you have completed the registration process, you may view all current job openings or search for jobs based on specific search criteria.

To look at job postings:

1. Log in using your oDesk user ID and password.

2. Click on the Find Jobs tab.

3.Browse by clicking on a category, subcategory, or skill. Press the 'View all jobs' link to see all open jobs.

Or Enter your criteria the 'Search Jobs' box. Press the Search button to view the results.

  • Keywords - Find jobs that contain the word you enter. Select 'Search only titles and skills' to limit the search to those two areas of the job description. Useful for finding jobs in your area of expertise ('HTML', 'logo', 'travel', etc).
  • Job Types
    • All job types - Default
    • Hourly jobs only - Limits search to hourly assignments. Option to specify workload and/or minimum duration.
    • Fixed-price jobs only - Limits search to fixed price assignments. Option to specify minimum and/or maximum budget.
  • Category - Defaults to All. Change this to find jobs listed in a single category. Option to specify a subcategory as well.
  • Posted Since - Jobs posted before this cutoff date will be excluded.
  • Job Status - Defaults to Open. Change this to view jobs in progress, completed, cancelled, or all. Useful for doing background research about the marketplace and other providers.
  • Buyer Facts
    • Feedback Score - Defaults to Any. Limits search to buyers with at least 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stars. To have earned feedback, they must have at least 1 job that has ended.
    • Number of paid jobs - Defaults to Any. Limits search to buyers with at least 1, 5, or 10 paid jobs. These jobs may be in progress or ended. The buyer must have paid the provider something on the assignment in order for it to count.

5. Select a criterion to use to sort the results. Choose either highest or lowest first. Click on any job title to see the full job posting.

6. Turn any search into an RSS or Atom feed that automatically updates when new jobs are added. We highly recommend using a feed if you want to watch for the latest job postings. Emailed job alerts only go out once a day, but the feeds are updated continuously and automatically. Just click the RSS or Atom link and save the feed address to your favorite feed reader. Don't have one, or have no idea what we're talking about? Check out Wikipedia for a list of feed readers and links to more information.
