Note HeSavedMe.org has NO website experience at all so we are relying on the professionalism of whoever designs this site to try and accomplish our look and purpose for the initial site.

We don’t "just want the website done".  We want it done so it is right with the functionality to do what we are intending.  The firm we hire will need excellent graphic, security, web design and color, and SEO skills.   In addition to these, the firm we contract with, needs to to deliver the site where when installed on our servers, it passes all our WC3 validators.  The firm will fix any bugs or design flaws for up to 45 days after the site transfer is complete.    

We expect the site to be made in Joomla unless there is a better alternative.  This would allow us to add content, in the form of Bible lessons, video, audio and graphics.   Our goal is to have the initial site professionally made, with templates for the styles of pages we will need, as we add additional pages later on our own.   We work from the Mac OS 10.5 platform.  We already have an ugly template up at http://www.HeSavedMe.org.    

We hired and fired 2 firms as both lied about their skill sets.  They were not even close to what they said they could do. 

Purpose:    It is a website that will teach the Bible in an interesting, fun and challenging way to a broad audience.  Everyone has a need for God.  There are two purposes to this sight. 

 1.) To lead people to salvation, and 
 2.) to teach the Bible clearly and with depth to a broad audience.  

Look:        Again it needs to have a professional look that instills respect and trust, without being heavy, glaring, weird, or smelling of dead religion.  We prefer a clean, elegant yet simple and clear look.  We have purchased a template with a good graphic which was used by the developer we are replacing.  The rest of the template is not likely usable.   Web pages should be dynamic width and should work well in all the popular browsers.  We have a VERY rough draft of our thoughts on how the first page and a Lesson Page should look.  See attached InDesign CS3 file.   What we like about the space graphic is its Flash twinkling of the stars and the appearance of the earth rotating.  For the first page, I was wondering if the stars could be in the background to give more impact, while the earth and twinkling stars are in the header.  If done right this should look great.
 
Design:     The design needs to be easy to understand and navigate, with the tools and layout the users would expect from a professional site of this type.   Site will include of course, text, but also videos, audio, graphs, animations, testimonies and other teaching aids to hold interest.  The menu needs to have sub menus, sub sub menus, and possibly sub, sub, sub menus.

The first or landing page would need to do some graphics work to get our desired effect.  See the InDesign file.   It would have Flash and also a provision to look correct if someone did not have the flash plugin.
 
On the First Page our goal is to get someone to navigate through the Salvation section or through the Lesson section.
 
The Salvation section leads them through the steps to get right with God.   Once someone makes that commitment, they are directed to a Welcome to the Kingdom of God page.   On this page they can print out a certificate to remember the date they received salvation.   From this page they are directed back to the Bible Lessons.
 
The Lesson section would be where we would add a large number of lessons as we develop them. 
 
The Lessons section would have initially 2 levels.  The fundamental level where they would learn what its all about.  Then there would be an intermediate level for registered users, where one could get more in depth lessons.  I have not thought this all through yet, on the permissions of allowing how one advances to deeper levels.   By topic it would seem logical that one should be able to go deeper to understand in more depth.   What I want to avoid is someone who is ignorant going deeper to make judgement on something without going through the lessons to understand the logic that supports what the Bible says.   Design of Lesson Pages will need Title and Lesson #, each to be linked and searchable.  We need the ability to add video, audio, pictures and graphics to the lesson pages.
   
Lesson pages should be designed to be friendly and something that are easy to navigate.

 Lesson Title
 Lesson Introduction
 Scriptures
 Discussion
 Word Meanings. 

Lesson pages should have Forward and Back buttons and Search buttons. 
 
DONATION PAGE:   Secure Page for donations and ability to direct where donation should be used.  Once a donation is made, it creates a receipt that can be printed by or emailed to the donor.  This function would need to record name and address of donor for records purposes.
 
ITEMS TO BUY PAGE:  Secure page for Bible related items that might generate income for site.

CONTACT PAGE:  Where people can contact us.  This will be a form, not just an email address.  The form should not allow code to be entered, just upper and lower case letters, numbers and basic punctuation.   
 
WELCOME TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD PAGE:  This page should be printable or have a printable section.  It should be like a birth announcement, not like a Diploma. This page will explain the basics of what happened.  On this page they can print out a certificate to remember the date they received salvation. Then there would be links from here into the lesson section. 

LOGO:   Need development of logo.  

We want a link to open a box with a parallel KJV/NASB bible for a study aid.
 
Audience:  Initially the English speaking audience of the United States, however in the future we plan to have this for worldwide use.  Audience will range from those who have no Bible understanding to those who are regular church goers.   We may add a child’s level at a later date.   This will likely be used in many churches and ministries as a teaching tool.
 
With the above in mind, we are looking for a complete initial site.  There is likely something we have missed due to our inexperience, that should be included.  We are counting on the professionalism of who we hire to know what needs to be here for what we are trying to achieve.  We already have a domain name (HeSavedMe.org).  As stated before we would like it so we can add pages & lessons as need be.
