Overview:
I need a developer who can design/develop an idea voting system similar to the one used by StarBucks at http://www.mystarbucksidea.com with some additional functionality listed below (another similar site is http://www.ideastorm.com by Dell).  The system will be architected in such a way so that I can host idea voting sites as a service for other companies.  Each company will have it's own "site" with it's own set of users, ideas, etc. and I will charge that company for using my service.  Each site will likely be a subdomain or similar off of my web site http://www.ideavoting.com

Objective:
The goal of the system is for business owners to be able to use the idea voting system to gather and QUANTIFY ideas from their customers, and more importantly to know which ideas are the top priority for the customers.  The customers can submit ideas and vote them up or down whether they think it's a "good idea" or a "bad idea".  The important part of the software will allow the users to "prioritize" the order of the ideas that they think are "good ideas", by picking and sorting the ideas they would like to see the company implement, and in which order (like "favorite ideas", except with a priority sequence, allowing the user to say which idea is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, for which ideas they would like to see implemented).  Then on the management side of the software, the administrator would need the capability to run reports that would determine which ideas are most popular, and which ideas the customers would like to see implemented first, etc.

  • When posting an idea, I want an intelligent way for the system to detect if the idea has been submitted already so that we can QUANTIFY the ideas, not just have a massive list.  The ideal would be to present other ideas that might possibly be the same idea submitted by another user, which would mean they need to just vote that idea up or down and add comments.
  • Vote ideas up or down (good idea / bad idea)
  • Users can prioritize their "favorite" ideas in the order they prefer them to be implemented

User Interface:
Having a smooth and friendly interface is VERY important to me.  I firmly believe in the user having the best possible experience.  It needs to be very simple for the users.

Architecture:
My web site is: http://www.ideavoting.com   The system needs to be designed in such a way so that I can host idea voting systems for multiple companies...so each company that signs up for the idea voting system can have their own idea voting site such as:  
  asoftwarecompany.ideavoting.com
  smoothiecompany.ideavoting.com
or
  http://www.ideavoting.com/asoftwarecompany
  http://www.ideavoting.com/smoothiecompany
and their customers can create themselves a user name and begin submitting ideas and voting on ideas in that company's hosted site (we host it).  So my customers are companies that want to gather and quantify ideas from their customers.
I would prefer the system to be written in PHP, MySQL, AJAX, Javascript if possible, unless someone is able to provide a much better system at a much more affordable price using different technologies.

Reporting:
Each company that uses the service will need some basic reporting capabilities allowing them to see the most important ideas to the users and to sort/arrange them in various ways.
