Very negative experience. We agreed on a fixed-price project and paid him 10% down. I gave him VERY specific instructions for the task: 1- Checked in a project in SVN for him as a starting point 2- Gave him links/resources..etc 3- Sent him very detailed email on what the task is. Later on he emails me and asks to change the project type to hourly. I have a very busy schedule so I can't always respond to emails on time, so a few days later I email him saying OK no problem. He emails me back saying I am too busy to work on this project let's cancel it - after I already paid him 10% down and he delivered ZERO code!Contractor shouldn't have agreed to the task in the first place if he couldn't deliver, or if he didn't like the fixed price approach - and definitely shouldn't ask for a 10% down if can't commit. Contractor should be able to work on his own when he as a very clear and specific task at hand and not wait for my input/response to proceed. I definitely won't hire him again.
