Ongoing server administration required for FreeBSD and VMWare Linux servers running FreeBSD 6.1, Fedora Core 7 (Host), Cent OS 5 (guest) and Windows XP Professional (guest).

You will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading software installations including remote management of guest operating systems and deploying VMs to new hardware.

Requirements:
  • At least 3 years experience as system administrator for FreeBSD and Linux.
  • Experience managing and optimizing MySQL databases
  • Experience creating, installing, and deploying VMWare guest operating systems.
  • Experience maintaining LAMP software systems
 
All candidates must answer the following questions in order to receive a request for interview:

1) Describe the procedure for efficiently backing up a MySQL database with a script that runs as a cron job.

2) How do you set up load balancing for web servers and tomcat servlets using stateful http connections (each client connects to the same server for the life of the session)?

3) Write a procedure for mounting a remote file system using nfs.
