We are looking for a senior programmer for the VODO project. This highly visible project distributes free-to-share works through filesharing networks with the co-operation of filmmakers and other creatives. We have already released two films.

Our programmer will join a committed team so it's important you be available regularly and not be out of contact without informing us. This is no a job to take on if you want to be able to work for three hours then disappear for three weeks!

Working on VODO involves: working with video files (transcoding and distributing via bittorrent), managing a bittorrent tracker (no pirate media), administering our server from time to time, dealing with our Turbogears environment, such as user management, and extending the site. You will be working with a Web Project Manager who will help specify and order tasks.

The project is live and there are a number of urgent tasks to carry out, so priority will be given to those able to start work immediately.

Please note: we would like to contract an independent contractor, not someone who works in a company or group.

Hours will probably be more than 30 but this is not guaranteed each week.
