The course at Pelco included VLAN, UDP, Multicast and Unicast routing and network design based on the Pelco Endura System. Further LAN troubleshooting skills included Wire Shark, IGMP snooping and VLAN network segmentation to achieve a seamless video IP network.
The course also included network topology design and network overhead calculations to allow a WAN or LAN deployment of the Endura System.
The Honeywell Card Access System and Video Integration Diploma was achieved in June of 2008. A operational knowledge and installation of the Win Pak Card Access. Alarm and Video Integration Systems was achieved. This included IP and serial based Alarms and Video integration theory based on Win Pak and Win Pak 2.0 Software.
Pelco Certified Systems Technician responsible to maintain and service a wide area network running IP Video at 30 Frames per second recording and viewing. Correct VLAN and IGMP settings on layer 2 switches plus set SNMP Cacti remote monitoring server. Wire Shark, Cacti and HP Procurve network software monitoring with a remote secure VPN connection.
Service and Install CCTV and Card Access solutions within South Western Ontario. Troubleshoot simple circuits, relays, voltages and repair failed component. I also share a high level of organize to meet daily schedules and track inventory plus work order status and new customer calls.
The Diploma at Radio College of Technology included Domain management, network topology design and network bandwidth calculations. We also learned about many operating systems including Windows NT 4.0, Windows Server, Slackware and Redhat linux. This gave myself a good understanding of many programming languages including C, C++, Debug, Bash and Java languages within different operating system environments. Further projects at college included a Slackware server running LAMP, DHCP and IP routing tables for a simple ten computer network. This introduction into technology was a solid foundation that I have expanded upon in many areas of technology.
