I am a self taught web developer with a programming background that prefers to work on the "front end" of development. I build interactive, standards-compliant XHTML/CSS hand-coded websites with strict DOCTYPES that are easy to maintain. I have strong CSS skills, and don't use tables for layout, since they are intended for tabular data.
I use PHP almost every day, and prefer it to other server languages because it is free, powerful, and flexible. I am comfortable programming the server although my background is on the front-end. My traditional strength has been procedural programming, but I have gradually become a strong object oriented programmer.
The sites I enjoy building are database driven, and also highly interactive on the front end. I am skilled with JavaScript, and am well versed in the jQuery library, and consider myself an advanced user of this framework. I can build jQuery plugins, and have released a tooltip plugin which has grown very popular with the public. It is called wTooltip.
I handle many tasks, and like to see projects through from start to finish. I take great pride in my work, and enjoy what I do very much.
I am also skilled at content creation, SEO, have good personal skills, and a master of the English language.

Wayfarer Web Services
Founding Member / Independent Contributor
Wayfarer is the business that I founded while working on Odesk. Although Wayfarer is basically just me, it also encompasses a larger idea of the team system on Odesk, and embodies the ability to leverage the freelancing market to take on large projects at a moments notice. Wayfarer is a scalable enterprise that can expand to meet needs very quickly.

JBA Network
Web developer / Independent Contributor
The JBA network is primarily a music and healing arts company based in Asheville, NC USA. My role at JBA was mostly on the
http://www.jukeboxalive.com
website, as well as
http://www.imusicmarketing.com
. As a CSS expert I was responsible for updates and browser compatibility CSS issues.

Owning my own business and the necessity of representing my business online sparked my interest and enthusiasm for the design aspect of internet marketing.
Other Experience
Hobbiest Programmer
I have years of programming experience as a hobbiest, mostly in the BASIC language. I also learned Pascal in a structured programming course during my senior year in high school, and used it moderately to write small programs and one miniature application. I have experimented with C and FORTRAN, and should have no problems learning other languages. My endeavor into the world of PHP brought fruitful results as a result of my hobbiest experience. All of my prior experience was useful in learning this, with the structure of C being especially similar to it. My only struggle, being self-taught, was lack of object-oriented programming training. I've become much better since then at writing modular, reusable code that is class-based, and I still always make an effort to improve my skillset..

Project Title:
Park Lane Dallas
Attachment:
none
Completed:
07/03/2008
Category:
>
URL:
http://www.parklanedallas.com
Description:
This is the largest site I have built to date. I was responsible for nearly all of the code, including a quite extensive, interactive, database driven directory. One other developer did some of the MySQL, and back-end coding, and the artwork and was accomplished by two artists. Most of the animation and interaction on the site is done with JavaScript. There is only one flash object on the entire site, which is how I like things.
I did all of the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and most of the PHP, including all of the templating, and nearly all of the data sorting.
Park Lane is a massive, multi-use, urban development near downtown Dallas, Texas.
Project Title:
Moving Day Boxes
Attachment:
none
Completed:
03/16/2008
Category:
Web Development > Ecommerce
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/moving_day/
Description:
This is the first draft of a redesign for the front page of the successful moving-supplies company Moving Day Boxes. Although this page underwent further development, this page still well represents the overall look and feel of the page.
The design itself was mostly made by the site owner, although I had to adjust it here and there to make it more professional.
Like all of the layouts, the page is put together without the use of tables. All of the HTML and CSS was hand-coded by me.
Project Title:
Project Napolean
Attachment:
none
Completed:
02/16/2008
Category:
Web Development > UI Design
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/project_napolean/
Description:
This is the mockup of the front page of a dating service/social network. I inherited this page from a developer that botched the code, and did not finish it, which is why, if you examine the HTML and CSS, it does not match my normal pattern of development.
I think I did a fine job of repairing this page, which is why it is in my portfolio. I only wish I had been given this page to begin with, because the end-product would have been even better.
The rest of the site is still under development, but I have been promised all of the layout because I performed well.
Project Title:
Church Web Resources
Attachment:
none
Completed:
01/15/2008
Category:
Web Development > Web Design
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/church_web
Description:
This is a site I coded for a company that is offering website/CMS packages specifically to churches. The link below is a 'mockup', meaning some of the links don't function, and there is dummy text in some places.
100% of the HTML, CSS, and PHP for Church Web Resources was put together by me, while the graphic design, minus the slicing and minor editing needed to make it into a layout, was done by another.
Project Title:
Gistihus
Attachment:
none
Completed:
01/10/2008
Category:
Web Development > Web Design
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/gistihus/
Description:
This is a one-page mockup for an apartment rental agency in Iceland. Note the interesting layout of the header, and the way it interacts with the x-axis repeating background.
The graphics are the work of another designer. I did all of the HTML, CSS, and a speck of Javascript.
Project Title:
Ebay UI
Attachment:
none
Completed:
01/10/2008
Category:
Web Development > UI Design
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/ebay_ui2
Description:
This mockup is a User Interface I engineered that was later programmed to interact with an Ebay seller's account. While the graphic design work was done by someone else, all of the HTML, CSS, and Javascript is my own.
I like this design because of how easy it is to use. There is still some dummy text and broken links on the page, but it is only an example.
Project Title:
Event Planner
Attachment:
none
Completed:
01/10/2008
Category:
Web Development > Web Design
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/event_planner/
Description:
This is a one page mockup, pre-CMS, for a wedding event planner. Note the use of transparency, and if you have an older computer, see how a slightly different version of the page is sent to Internet Explorer 6. This is due to poor transparency support in this browser, which is often a challenge for unexperienced people to deal with.
I did not do the graphics design, only the HTML and CSS.
Project Title:
Healing Arts Template
Attachment:
none
Completed:
11/15/2007
Category:
Web Development > Web Design
URL:
http://wayfarerweb.com/mockups/healing/
Description:
This is a one page mockup, that was intended to be put into a CMS and offered as a template to Healing Arts companies.
It is a fairly straightforward design, and was easy to make into a layout. All of the HTML and CSS was done by me.
Project Title:
Ojos de Dios Mandalas
Attachment:
none
Completed:
08/01/2007
Category:
Web Development > Web Programming
URL:
http://www.ojos-de-dios.com
Description:
This is my father's website, and it is where I do all of my experimentation. I volunteer for this post, and it is my pet-project. This is how I learn much of what I know about HTML, PHP, CSS, Javascript, SEO, and Photoshop.
Almost every shred of this website was put together by me. Although I consider myself a developer, not a designer, I also did all of the graphic design. All of the art except for what is being sold, is done by me.
I also did a considerable amount of PHP programming, and much of the site content is being displayed dynamically without the aid of a CMS. I am also developing a blog for the site, which will be posted to a directory of the site in the near future.
