I am looking for projects where I can apply my knowledge in order to come up with neat simple web aplications. Moreover, I am focusing on growing my ruby knowledge as well as the framework ruby on rails. I love web standards and usable simple products. Things I love: Open Source - Ruby - Rails - Rspec - Cucumber - Shoulda - BDD - TDD - Pair Programing - Git - FamilyThings I don't like that much:Copyright - License Keys - Unsustainable Products - .net - Java - ASP
One week into the assignment, this developer went from being a promising new candidate to the "contractor from hell".His actions and behaviour are most puzzling. Not only did he (on 2 separate days) stand up one of our partners who flew from New York to Miami just to meet with him, he was online at the time of his meeting and was very non-chalant about him missing it.We've never interacted with someone so unwilling to communicate and out-of-touch with their surroundings. Days before we fired him, he consistently ignored our attempt at conversation (online and via phone), even while billing us for the time. We had asked and asked for him to call us, to no avail. (We now understand what his company name ("Baked Web") truly means. We do not wish for any of our employees or contractors to be under the influence of mind-altering substances while working.)Additionally:-He took over 20 hours to create 5 HTML pages, the largest of which was just a few lines of text and radio buttons. (2 of the remaining 4 had one line each.)-Many of his later screenshots were made "invisible" for some reason. How he could want to bill a client 9 hours for invisible work is beyond us. Strangely, he does not have anything to show for those 9 hours.-He has unnecessarily insulted and defamed not only myself but my company. We are actively pursuing a lawsuit against this party for his behaviour.Odesk has arbitrated a large portion of his later work with us and refunded the hours for the "work" he has done. The next step is for this contractor to be kicked off of the site.We are astounded by this developer's incompetence and obvious desire to scam his new clients. He, paradoxically, seems to want his clients to be unhappy. The worst part is that he continues to blame us for him missing deadlines, important meetings, and not doing the work. Bar none, the worst developer we've ever heard of.

After many years living in the fast lane, I realized that you have to live for the small and sometimes unnoticed moments like a smile of a brother, hug of a father..
It is great to work with Michelle. She is alway online and she knows what she wants. Cheers for the start of a great relationship!!!
It was great to work with the oDesk team. I first started this project with Michelle, but unfortunately she had to go. The project was picked up by Josh in a professional manner; Moreover, He gave me clear cut directions of what needed to be done. He is a very professional person and knows his way around the web development world. He is without a doubt an excellent manager.Larry also was of great help to me during the project. I consulted him several times about css and he was full of knowledge. I do appreciate the time he spent with me hacking some code and fixing bugs.
All the best,
Ivan
